  1. I needed a new PlayStation console, so I decided to go with the PS3 and hoped that BluRay would win the HD DVD format "race". Thankfully, it did - with Disney and Sony backing them, I figured they had a pretty good chance.

  2. Nppe. I waited until the high definition DVD format war was over. Then I chose to buy a PS3 since it was the only profile 2.0 player available. And since it can do a lot more than a regular Blu-Ray player, the PS3 is a big plus!!!

  3. Nope, I personally don't own either one.

But, as a sidenote, my dad bought an HDD DVD player 3 years ago from Sony (Hard drive DVD players were basically an alternate to TiVO at the time), thinking it was an HD DVD player (and I believe one of the sales associates told him that it had the ability to read and play high definition discs...whether they meant HD DVDs or not, who knows). He was pretty upset when he bought himself a couple HD DVD sets and they didn't work with the player. At this point, the "war" between the formats was at it's peak, but despite his initial decision to buy what he thought was an HD DVD player, he chose to spend extra money to switch sides and buy a Blu-Ray player.

Just goes to show that those who were wronged by HD DVDs are likely to turn to the "blue side" =)

Trust me, no one more was more happy than my mother to see that Blu Ray came out on top after everything that had happened.
