Do you own a whippet?

is it just my whippet or are they just mad as a brush,she just like to run on the field or beach at top speed & chases seagulls

That's what they were bred to do... run and chase things.

And yes, I have a Whippet, I have had 3 over the past 25 years.

That's not just yours, whippets are extremely energetic and love to entertain themselves.  

They can sometimes seem a little crazy, but it's all part of their goofy nature.  :)

I have two lurchers which are very similar to whippets. Unfortunately their prey of choice is rabbits, they will always run at full pelt to get them (which they frequently do even though one only has three legs!).

I fostered 2 whippets in my life time, and both were good runners. Diablo and Jenga they were brothers. Diablo was pure black and Jenga was a gray brindle and white. Beautiful dogs that were sold to people who couldnt understand them. So they were given up for adoption.They are sight hounds so they are driven by sight. Seagulls would do it!!! Mine liked small animals and leaves. We had a large fenced in yard, and these 2 would run the perimeter until all the grass was dead and there was a little race track. I know that one of them went to a home where they do Coursing chases. They take them to a local Sight Hound gathering and chase plastic bags tied to lines on pulleys run by a motor and they get timed with other dogs. Its breathtaking to watch them run.

whippets have a lot of energy and are very fast runners. it is perfectly normal for them to want to run as fast as they can. and its good for them too!
