I'm considering buying this phone for my home. It seems to be loaded with cool features, but I'd like to hear from someone who has real word experience with it, particularly the Bluetooth features.

  1. I bought one of these and one extension about a month ago.  I would love to give it 5 stars.  I don't use the answering machine so I can offer no advice on that.  The sound quality is fine, it could stand to be a tad better but it loses no points for this.  My mom is 55 and used it once and she thought the sound was tough for her hearing which isn't 100% but she still was able to have a conversation on it.

Where this device loses stars for me is the Bluetooth.  I use the phone connection not the headset connection.  The pluses are that the Bluetooth stays connected (according to the symbol on the phone) more than half way across my house (the base is on the side of the house not in the center) and it reconnects...60% of the time.  The cons it reconnects 60% of the time.  After looking around the net I have seen this come up from time to time but it doesn't appear a majority of the time.  It may be the make/model of cell phone and the EP5632 don't get along.  I have a Motorola Razr V3xx.  I haven't been keeping the best note on this problem, today the battery on the cell got low so it was weak when I got home and that may have something to do with it but again this is the only time I have paid enough attention to it.  The base has an Auto Connect feature but I haven't been able to find this until after it fails to reconnect and the Auto after being turned still doesn't always work; thus the 60%.  Sometimes you can delete the cell on the base and then re-pair but I have had to pick up the base and unplug the power and plug it back in for it to let me fully delete the paring.  This is my only actual complaint about it and I realize that my answer here seems to blow it out of proportion when even with unplugging it it takes less than 2 minutes, but it kind of hurts the convenience of a cell phone if I can't take it anywhere.  The only other con is that once my cell was the phone closest to me and it didn't seem to want to let me talk on the cell itself at first then suddenly I could talk on it and it was still connected.  I'm guessing this is more the cell's fault but again I haven't put in enough testing to rule out the AT&T.  Also, a text message alert would have been nice even if I have to go back to the cell to read it and the phone book is manual entry only from my attempts.

Again, I know most of this seems bad but it's really only one thing, the Bluetooth reconnect.  So a score card:

    -3%   for sound quality

-5%   for not being able to use my cell

-2%   for no text message alert

    -20% for Bluetooth reconnect issues

    Total score: 70%, 3.5 stars

I would suggest knowing the store you buy from's return policy and see how it works with your cell phone if you are going to use it with your cell.  Otherwise if you aren't using it for its ability to spread your cell phone through your home then it gets a 90%b but then I have to ask why would you buy this one and not a cheaper one with no Bluetooth?  I hope this helps.  Happy New Year!
