Do you pay much attention to the flowers, trees and greenery?

Most of my friends have no interest in the beauty of nature. they would rather be at the shopping center and or a club. Looking at trees, flowers, gardens or greenery is dull to them. If you asked them during the spring if the trees had turned green yet, they would not know. They just do not pay much attention to this.

Do you think the average person pays any attention to the beauty of nature or do they have other concerns?

  1. I guess it depends on what you are used to seeing when growing up.  I was born and raised on a farm...I do appreciate nature and the beauty there.  I love the spring when everything is fresh and green and new.  The flowers are great when they bloom through out the summer.  The smell of new mown hay...can't beat that.  The smell after a rain...if only they could bottle that for the laundry.  Laundry that has been hung to dry has that special smell.  Sunshine even has a certain smell.  The colours in the fall, who can describe them.  And even winter has some special visuals, there is no end to natures gifts.

  2. When I was a kid, I thought it was boring helping my grandparents and my dad with planting the garden. I had places to go and people to see. Now that I'm an adult, I enjoy it immensely. It's very relaxing and I find it personally rewarding. Even so, I am the only one of my group of friends that has anything to do with gardening. They love to eat my veggies and herbs, but noone seems to have interest in doing it themselves.

Just today I got a small joy out of the fact that my transplanted hollyhock from my dad's farm bloomed and I found out that it's fuschia in color! He just bought the place so we had no idea what colors they were when I dug some up :)

  3. I know what you mean!  I look at all this flora and fauna as one of God's gifts to us and it's up to us to enjoy it!  I find it helps keep me grounded, calmer and to have a better set of priorities!

It's an amazing process, the changing of the seasons.  It amazes me how the animals interact with each other and how one little seed becomes this huge plant.  But then, I hope I never loose the sense of amazement such things bring!  That just might mean I grew up!  And if I have to lose that feeling, I don't ever wanna grow up!

  4. I don't think so. I really didn't start paying alot of attention to these kinda things until I got older, and obtained my own place. I wanted it to look good, and it has become a family day around our house working in the yard, and then sitting back and admiring how wonderful and beautiful everything is.

  5. some folks just don't really LOOK.... my doofy husband didn't realize that trees bloomed.... he'd driven to work daily watching the yellow line, I guess, cuz he passed many lovely yards and had still never seen them!!!.... now, he's a gardener and it's a whole different thing...your friends just have other interests.... they may never be interested or they might 'get it' when they own their own homes...... or not... ya never know.....they might have to hire landscapers!!!....

  6. Everyone has a different focus in life.  Your friend is obviously young and not that interested.  But if the general public is interested, just think of how many people love to go to the parks in your area, and I think you will find most people have at least a passing interest in relaxing and enjoying nature at least occasionally.  I think most people like to be in nature, if only for short periods of time.  Most people do not necessarily want to maintain a jungle at their own homes, too much work, too much trouble and so on.  Myself?  I can spend DAYS outside, planting, looking at plants, mowing, edging and so on.  Personally, if I had it to do all over again, I would love doing a lawn service.  I love to mow and weed and plant.  My own yard is slowly but surely turning into a garden of sorts.  I am tackling it one section at a time.  But not everyone had that kind of time or devotion.  And there are times I wonder what I was thinking.  But then something sprouts a flower and I am off and running again!  If we were all filled with the same passions, it would be tiring.  Thank goodness others are interested in teaching, defending, being green, saving the planet, looking for the cure to cancer and so on!  BTW GREAT QUESTION!

  7. Betcha they'd notice in a right smart hurry if their WEREN'T any flowers, trees, or greenery.

In answer to your first question, I only notice and appreciate flowers, trees and greenery if I'm awake, sleeping, alone, or with somebody.

    Have a lovely day.
