  1. Grab an iron & swing it like a putter. Then just choose the iron that will let u land the ball where it can release to the pin.

  2. The only way to do it is with a wedge.

  3. A chipper usually has the loft of about a 7 iron.  By carrying one you are taking up a spot for a real golf club.  Get rid of the chipper and learn to use your other irons for chipping depending on the distance and the loft required of the shot.

  4. If the shot is to a green above you, I use a wedge with open face to loft.  If green is level or below, I would use between a 6 and 9 iron.  Before hitting the shot, imagine throwing the ball to the hole, and this will be how hard you hit the ball.  Gets me close or in 80+ % of the time.

  5. I don't use a chipper... since there are 14 clubs in the bag, there are a lot of choices available, and I wouldn't want to take up a club slot with a chipper.

To go a step further with that, I don't think it's the best choice to pick one club for chipping.  There may be a favorite, but the situation will change which club is best.

For example... if there's 30 feet to the hole but it's 10 feet of grass and 20 feet of green, there needs to be less airtime and more roll -- maybe a 9-iron.  But if it's 20 feet of grass and 10 feet of green a club with more loft is necessary -- maybe a Lob Wedge.  If the fringe is a little rough and I don't think the putter will roll it nicely or might bog down, it might be a hybrid.

I try to picture what the ball needs to do in terms of air and roll, and pick a club as required.

  6. A wedge.  It has the better feel.

  7. i use a 60 degree wedge

  8. 56 degree wedge
