  1. I used to but when i found out it can give you psychosis i stopped and now i'm learning the cognitive behavioural way.

  2. I like guided qigong meditation, especially for beginners. It is typically difficult for people to simply sit and clear their minds; guided meditations give them something to focus on until their minds are trained.

  3. hummmmmmmmmmmmmm    yes

  4. Yes.

Once we start meditation practice then we aim to make our lives a living meditation. Always seeking the higher source.

I practice several types of meditation depending on my state of mind at the time.

Meditation in movement (qigong) helps mindfulness and awareness in everyday living, we look for the stillness within the movement.

Meditation in stillness, sitting, standing or lying down stilling the mind and the body, we look for movement (internal qi)

If the mind is quite active we use the senses to help quieten the mind - sound by repeating a mantra - sight by using a guided visualisation - smell with use of joss sticks - feeling the resonance of a drum beat or just focusing on the breath. These are not 'meditations' as such they are just ways to quieten the mind, usually to help the beginner and should not be continued longer than necessary. Ultimately it is the nothingness that is found where there is the opportunity to touch the divine. All meditation leads to nothingness no matter what the original 'methods' are.

(Don't be fooled by the word 'nothingness' - it is a relative term, in the 'nothingness' we find the answers, the reason, the wisdom and the Godhead.)

  5. i did it like once

cause i read it in a magazine

  6. Yes, I meditate.

I use to do a Vedic form of meditation & now am Buddhist... but I still occasionally use some of the other techniques I used earlier. It depends on my state of mind what technique I use to help settle my mind.

  7. Yes, I have tried. I feel more relaxed, calm - less stressed when facing the world! I like to meditate after doing yoga or pilates. I haven't been to the london meditation centre - where is it? Thanks!

  8. First of all, Meditation can not cause psychosis! It may make you aware of the noise of your thoughts and make you think you are crazy, but you are not, this is just the action of the mind. Meditation is very healthy for mind body and spirit.

Yes I meditate, there are many ways to meditate and I practice three. The one that is easiest for me is a walking meditationn where I just walk and I pay attention to my breathing and the rythm of my steps. Whenever I catch myself wandering around inside my mind and getting attached to my thoughts, I just bring my attention back to my breath or to the rythm of my steps. This is good for beginners who have difficulty sitting still.

The mind will think, that's what a mind does, there may never be a moment of quiet mind that is a rare thing that only comes with disciplined practice. The point is to nitice the thoughts but let them go past you without getting wrapped up in them.

The next form of meditation I practice is a mantra meditation where I repeat the same word or phrase over and over for the duration of the meditation. In some cases it is the vibration of the sound that acts on the body or in some cases it is the words themselves that help me to invoke or connect with whatever I am chanting about. This is a good intermediate step, the chanting gives the mind something to do.

The third which I find the most beneficial and the most difficult is a silent meditation. I may choose a sacred word that I do not chant repeatedly but rather use as a reminder to bring my mind back to my heart and allow the thoughts to move on through rather than attaching to them.  It is good to begin with a short amount of time, like five minutes and build up a little at a time to half an hour or more.

I am not familliar with the meditation you are studying but I am sure it is just as good as any other.

Meditation helps me to release stress, to remember my connection to God and other living beings. It helps me to have more energy during the day and to sleep better at night. It helps to keep my mind clear.

    good luck to you.
