  1. London

  2. It's a simple choice between two evils.

I choose London as the lesser of those two evils.

  3. I've heard that London has some interesting things to do and see.

  4. I was born in Dublin and I love it to bits.

    Laura.

    =]

  5. London by a long chalk.

  6. This is a very relevant question for me right now!

I am a bit worried that the consensus among the answers seems tilted towards London.

I have lived in London for 15 years, but I am currently interviewing for a great job in Dublin, where I have never lived and have no other connections. I have only spent 24 hours there.

I wish more people were saying Dublin! it is a bit worring that so many Irish people are saying 'London'...

But they are in different leagues, really, aren't they. Which is not to disparage Dublin. London is THE world-class city (dream on, New York!) whereas Dublin may (or may not , I need to find out soon) be a perfectly pleasant little city. There seems to be a fair amount of cultural stuff going on in Dublin, though from what I saw it is not the prettiest place in the world.

I'm rambling, I'll stop... I will really miss London if I leave, and I will definitely move back eventually. Maybe that's your answer right there.

  7. def london, it is so exciting and the sights are great

  8. are you joking

    or serious

    can't decide

I'd prefer to be in the great city of London

with all its fun and opportunities

than to endure the incessent racism of Dublin

    against people like me

  9. hi you

give me London over Dublin any day of the week but give me my beloved cork city over the rest of the world and i would die a happy man

  10. i'm neutral but its a bit like asking who is the best out of man.utd & stoke city. london is in the top 3 citys in the world, infact it has twice the population of the whole of ireland,

  11. Sorry, but you're trying to compare cities in two different leagues.

Try a question about Dublin and Manchester, or Dublin and Lisbon instead:-)

Seriously, London has more than twice the population of the whole of Ireland, plus 35 million tourists passing through each each year. You can compare London with New York, Tokyo, or Hong Kong but not Dublin, please......:-)

  12. My mam every year untill she died went to Dublin she loved

    it.

  13. I'm from North London

Dublin is the better city by far - no competition!!

    1) The people are soooo friendly

    2) The men are better looking and basically better quality (tho I think thats Irish men all over)

    3) The city is quirky (I love the fact that opposite Brown Thomas u have Tower Records!! In London all the*s****.* shops are found together in a rich man paradise with no place for any other type of person to feel comfortable in)

    4) Its just a beautiful place full stop!

    Wish I could live there!!!

  14. I like both of them. I work in Dublin everyday, I don't live in it though. I went to london 2 years ago and I have to say despite it being big it's so easy to get around, the underground is brilliant. It was my first time in an underground, have to say was very impressed. although the people weren't as friendly as the Dublin people. That's the only downside to it. for this reason going to say I prefer Dublin.

  15. Barely know London, but I'd like to see it.

  16. im from dublin but i have ta say london is way better its cheaper, more  exciting and there is way more to do.

  17. Dublin for fun

    london for sightseeing

still I prefer Dublin as a hole

London can be annoying on the outskirts

  18. Stay in Dublin i love it there so cultured all the music and love that is freely spread around the city.

I believe Ireland is one of the only places that truely has culure.

    Peace

  19. I would have to say London as lived there for many years and don't know Dublin so well, thats the only reason choose London as pals there and loved it.  Am Irish.

  20. Báile Átha Cliath!!

  21. Dublin...a much better atmosphere

  22. Dublin...

  23. Dublin. Lived there for 2 years. Loved it. I've been to London, but it's too busy for my taste.

I prefer places where you can get to talk to the locals.

SO ANNOYED: Some Irish people say they prefer London because Irish people in general don't like to brag. Don't take their word. ;) It's so cheap to fly to Dublin from London. Spend a couple of days there so you can make up your mind.

  24. I will have to say Dublin.... that might have something to do with the fact that i love the Irish accent. I love London too, i only live an hour and a half away, so not as exciting!

  25. i'm irish and i have to say london....

dublin has all the c**p that london has and none of the good stuff

  26. Dublin is one of the three really multicultural cities in the world (the others being London and New York). It is very easy to get around if you live or stay near the center. However the traffic can be bad if you don't. There is an incredible mix of people from different countries in Dublin. It is about a tenth the size of London and there is not so much of a boring financial vibe that you get in London. There is a great mix of restaurants, clubs and pubs etc in Dublin, but admittedly it can get fairly chaotic on weekend nights.

It depends on whether you wanna live in a big city, or a relatively small city.  For its size Dublin has a lot of museums, galleries etc and things to see, as well as some good Georgian architecture. (There is also some mega-crappy architecture from like the sixties and seventies, but many other cities have that stuff too.)

There are wonderful walks and scenery just at the end of the local commuter train line (DART) in places like Bray and Howth. No other capital city that I know of has anything like that.

Dublin is expensive but the wages are high as well. Property prices are falling at the moment but still high compared to elsewhere in Europe. Rental prices are much better than they were a few years ago.

As I said, it depends on what kind of city you want to live in.

  27. Dublin for sure. Up until a few years ago Dublin was a great evening out. I used to stay in Killarney for the weekend and get the dart into Dublin. Friendly people, lots of good food places and good clothes shops. It's gone down hill since with all the nutters from the whole of Europe ruining Temple Bar. Great memories and still prefer it to London.

  28. I prefer Dublin.. I went there last summer for two weeks.. I went also in London but Dublin I think is better.. sorry for the english but I'm Italiaaaaaaan..=) but it's very beautiful write in this answer.. kiss kiss Lucy..

  29. Dublin xxxx!

  30. I'm a Dublin girl but I LOVE London! I'd move there in a second if I could afford to.

  31. That's hard, i can't choose.

I was born in London and stayed until I was 4 but still feel a pull back and love it when I visit.

I've spent time in Dublin and love it too, my favourite place for a long weekend.
