Do you prefer ethnic foods to be authentic?

If you do, how can you tell whether it is authentic?

Not always.  I have been to many third world countries and had to eat their awful food, so i would prefer in my country that we eat foreign food with a bit of an Australian influence.  As it has been adjusted for Australian taste buds It seems to suit me, and I like it better that way.  Call me boring, but thats the way I like it.

Except I really liked Mexican food in Mexico, and don't like that Tex Mex stuff they pass for Mexican in US and Australian restuaruants.

That's an open ended question. Sometimes authentic ethnic food might consist of things you wouldn't like, such as steamed chicken feet or pig snouts or cow tongues. But overall, I agree, ethnic food should be fairly authentic. It's what people expect.
