  1. My choice is also oils.  I like the richness,  feeling, and movement of the paint.

I have tried all mediums and oils are my favorite.

  2. oil painting

  3. I love working with oils as well, but i do hate how long it takes to dry. I recently tok up water coloring and i really love that, there is so much you can do with it i just keep finding out how to do all of these new textures and blends, outside of paint i love the rawness of charcoal

  4. I prefer oils.  Right now, I am beginning to work on number 456.  There's going to be a lot of red.  The subject matter is a marching band going down main street of Any Town USA and everybody is dressed in red uniforms.

  5. I prefer watercolors. I like the way it flows, the lack of control that I have, unlike acrylic and oil. With those, to me, you slap it on and there it stays. Too rigid for me. I also can't handle solvent fumes. I have no desire to use oils. I have painted with acrylics, but again, too rigid for me.

  6. I teach oils and take classes in watercolor...preference changes with subject matter.

  7. Oils are best. Unless you're John Singer Sargent and can make water colors look like oils.

  8. I like the unpredictability of watercolors.  Pastels are my medium of choice.

  9. oils by a landslide. i started out with acrylics but never went back after i used oil

  10. My favorite is Acrylics. Actually, I've only ever painted with acrylics.

Oils seem way difficult and I don't even know how to go about using water colors...

I guess I'm just too afraid to try it.

  11. I painted in oils when I first started with expressing in color, then did pastels for a while. Watercolor is by far and away my choice now. The spontaneity, freshness and brilliance of watercolors has won me over. Taking oils back up has no appeal to me now, despite a blank canvas on an easel and long handled brushes sitting nearby.
