Do you prefer the term panties or underwear?

Had a Professor today who said the word panties was childish and used to infantize women....she is a bit of a feminist though. What do you girls call them panties or underwear?

definitely "panties"....sounds sexier and prettier....pretty panties vs. pretty underwear.....underwear is unisex....but panties are for the ladies....

"Panties" is a generally accepted synonym for underpants.  I like the term because I enjoy wearing lacy, pretty underpants and "panties" seems to be a more appropriate reference to what I like to wear.
