Do you prefer this name for a boy or a girl?

Babynames.com says that it is unisex. I'm Italian and I know that it's typically used for guys, especially back in the day. However, for some reason I really adore it for a girl.

What's your opinion?

No offense, but if my mother named me Luca, I would hate her. Try Lucy, or Lucinda or even Luciana. Just not Luca.

I love Luca ~ to me it is just a personal choice ~ I mean there is that rule about feminine if it ends in an A but not sure if that would apply to the origin in this name

I prefer it for a girl name as well

The name sounds masculine to me but it's kind of exotic for someone to have a name that sounds of the opposite gender. But for Luca, I think it's still more of a guy's name.

I've never personally met anyone with the name, but i know it is used for boys.

i think it sounds masculine.

but its up to you if it sounds more feminine to you use it.

I have a similar situation as i like the name dylan for a girl whereas most people think its masculine but i think its more feminine. go with your instincts.

It sounds more masculine. I agree with the suggestion of Lucy, or what about Lucia? It's just one letter away and much more feminine and sweet sounding. :)

Boy, as I see it as short(ish) for Lucas.

I think the only way you can get away with it being a girl, is in a name like Luca-May/Luca-Mae.   I really do like that.
