I'm a bit of an armchair critic and love to watch the games (any AFL game) on my plasma with my bag of chips..

I do go to 3-4 live games but parking and the cold deter me mid-season when its freezing here in Melbourne.

How about you guys/gals??

  1. If I watch AFL on free to air TV I do so without the volume on. Bruce McAvaney drives me insane!

  2. TV :-)

  3. i like both sitting at home enjoying a nice beer and can go to the dunny when i want. But i love the atmosphere of a live match.

  4. Honestly Rogue, me too, (minus the chips)

Although I love to watch it live, I find the game much more enjoyable in front of the tv.

I won't get to many games in 08 but won't miss one on tv!!!

Plus it's getting too bloody expensive!!!

& i'm getting too old and grumpy to sit in the cold!!!

  5. I'd much prefer to be at the game... I get bored watching it on television because you've lost all of the atmosphere (the chants, the greasy food, the old ladies screaming in their home-made scarves).

Sitting in the cold is annoying, but it's all a part of it.

  6. Again I love watching any sport on telly.

Do what I want when I want....and your watching every detail and with commentary.

    Can't go past commentary.

  7. AFL is definitely better live high behind the posts. NRL is better on TV for coverage but atmosphere at a suburban ground at NRL is better than anything. Can't say I like one day cricket matches at the ground but would love to spend 5 days in the sun watching a test at SCG.

End result would pick MA Noble stand tickets for AFL with brookvale tickets a close second just for the atmosphere. Probably watch 1/2 my swans games on TV though and about 90% RL on TV. Would rather spend 5 days at the cricket than at the beach but then again finding a team to last five days against us is another challenge all together.

  8. Much prefer being there live...but a chair and a constant supply of chips sounds good to me aswell.

  9. i'd much rather go and watch it live, so much better. tv is still alright though.

  10. Footy i watch on tv but prefer to  be at the game for the NRL.But when AFL was at waverly i went to all the saints games,it was much more personal than the grounds now.I think that is why i prefer the Melbourne Storm games you can get close to the action and the players.

  11. I would like to have the option we only have one NAB cup game a year in North Queensland, up in Cairns and we all travel up to watch this year it poured all game and you couldn't see 50 metres for most of the game I cant travel to Brisbane to watch as we have to play on Saturdays. Up here its always the TV and a group on Saturday nights turn the volume down and its a blast. We tried goin to the cowboys (NRL) just didn't do it for us the atmosphere was good though.

You lot are lucky to have the choice. I would love to see a game at the G

  12. As a teen id prefer to go LIVE, friends and i would go to games not b4 travelling 3 and a half hours just to get pics and auotgraphs.

  13. There is nothing that can beat seats in Yankee stadium.

  14. To me it really depends on the game.  Being here in America I can only watch AFL on TV.  As far sports go over here, American Football is best at home, baseball is best at the park and hockey is best at the arena.

  15. 50/50. I watch all Adelaide Crows games live in Adelaide, and watch a lot of games on the TV. Sometimes I travell interstate to watch The Crows play.

  16. Live at the MCG or Telstra dome.

  17. If I watch it on TV, I like to watch it alone.  I'm very impatient and can't stand anyone else passing comment loudly when I'm trying to hear what's going on.  This becomes particularly true when I'm watching close games where my team's behind.  The upside of watching on TV is I can be as violent with the remote as I like and no copper throws me out of the ground!!! As a Cats fan, I'm onto my 79th remote now :-)

I'd rather be at the game, though sometimes I find other people's behaviour  bizarre;  Like the guy at the Grand Final who was asking us all to SIT DOWN!!!  (Do you freakin believe that?  This is the Grand Final mate, we're winning and you want us to .... what????)

  18. Rogue, the game here refers to footy.

Nothing like being at the G, or Kardinia Park, or Waverley, or Princes Park, or Manuka Oval, or the SCG, or the Gabba, or Colonial Stadium (Telstra Dome, whatever). I think that is the list of all the AFL venues I have been to an AFL game in my life.

I guess that is the best way for ME to see the game, since Andrew the rocket scientist decided I don't need to watch the footy here in America.

  19. i like going to the game so you can say I was there when he kicked 30 goals in a match but for viewing pleasure i rather stay at home because you can hear the commentating and such (also you dont have 50 people watching you pee at ome!)

  20. Much prefer to see and watch the game live, however, the cost now from the time that Waverley was closed is just to expensive for my son and i to go to.

Prefer to watch it live the atmosphere is so much better.

We watch it on TV, but both yell like we would at the game
