I think the best kormas are made using both ginger & tomatoes but there is no right or wrong, it's matter of personal preference & taste.

Apparently so as I continue to eat them in the North Indian restaurants in the Far East. Great with briyani rice!

I do use Ginger in the Korma. However I do not use any tomatoes.

Infact in authentic Korma recipes you'll find the use of curd / yogurt, instead of tomatoes in combination with poppy seeds or Cashew paste.
