Question:

Do you "pull the lever?"?

I always hear about people pulling the lever for one candidate or another, but I've yet to see a lever of any type where I vote. We also don't have voting booths like the ones I always see on TV with a curtain and everything. Mot of the time you just sit at a table with everyone else who is filling out their ballot. How do you vote?

  1. um, i push the button!!

  2. Voting machines used to be mechanical devices where in fact you did pull a lever to register your vote.

It varies by municipality -- punch card, fill in bubbles, electronic, etc. We have little stands enclosed on 3 sides.

  3. filling out the ballot!

  4. That is the old punch card type. When you pull the lever, your vote is punched into an unformatted card that can only be properly read by sealed programmed card sorter. It is sixties type stuff, but politicians love the sound bite.

  5. Behind the curtain with a stick pin push-out ballot. Pull leaver was a way in the past that an individual could just vote for all of the candidates within his proffessed party, no thinking.

I'am a conservative but save room in my heart for a couple of hard working dems and they get a vote too, People like congressman Bart Stupak (D) north mich.
