Do you really believe that the democratic party now is like the democratic party of yesteryear?

In the *old days* I most likely would have been a democrat. That was when it was a party for the people and about the people. Now, I see as much money, greed, inability to see all sides of issues as the Republicans are accused of doing.

The idea of morality has gotten so lost in the muddied waters of political correctness. At one time it was about US, now its just about a certain ideal to obtain; an ideal set forth by spin doctors who truly are demanding us to conform to a specific moral relative citizen of the world.

What are your thoughts?

  1. No. The democratic party of yesteryear, or the 1960's, are more like the republicans of today.  There has been somewhat of a role reversal.  It is often said if Kennedy were around today, he would be republican.  Researching this recently, I find myself believing it to be true.

  2. Hmmmm, JFK was in favor of and got tax cuts passed.  What do you think?

  3. not even close, the repbs are more like the party of yesterday

  4. he** no . they have become just as corrupt and devicive and under the the thumb of big business as the repubs . BO had great speech writers but , technicaly he cant do all that stuff , as a pres. all he can do is ASK congress to make a bill that he signs . thats it . read the constitution . for true change , im going with nader .

  5. hahaha ya and I woulda thought Republicans were all about small government and fiscal conservatism but...just look how much that changed.

  6. Truman, JFK, and Hubert Humphrey wouldn't recognize the Dem party of today.

  7. Well it's definitely a popularity and a beauty contest. Less like a real policy-driven race...  accentuated by Sarah Palin, who is very good looking.

As far as policy goes, it doesn't matter. It's a lock. Obama will be elected as long as McCain is unable to win back enough "true conservatives". The only fix is if McCain has Bob Barr in the debates where he can win back enough conservatives who are polling for Barr, even in Alaska.

  8. are you sure you know what your talking about? the Democrats  were moderate/Conservatives 50 years ago and the republicans like Eisenhower said liberal things like `don't trust the military industrial complex,` and now the Conservatives say they love the military industrial complex.,

Don McClanen thinks a condition called pleonexia has overtaken the U.S. 'Pleonexia is an insatiable need for more of what I already have, and it has penetrated our culture to the point where people are angry at the poor,' he states."
