I've done it, we've all done it. Blaming refs is an easy But I also do know when my team is getting out played. Its one thing if it was a blatant call in OT or something, but these games haven't been close, and has nothing to do with reffing.

Lets take a look at Game 2's penalties for a minute. Detroit penalties by type...2 tripping, 1 hooking, 1 slashing, 3 roughing. Pittsburgh...1 slashing, 1 holding, 2 goalie interference, 1 interference, 8 roughing, 2 misconducts.

Take away roughings which are pretty much obviously good calls, Detroit 4 penalties, Pittsburgh 5. The interference on Malone was obvious because Zetterberg was nowhere near the puck, the two goalie interferences, must calls. And no... Malone was NOT pushed into him by a Wing, that was Crosby.

In reality if you take away the STUPID roughing penalties, it is quite even. Oh, do I even have to mention the "no-goal" in game 1. That was less interference than Malone and Sykora's.

  1. Exactly ---- the facts simply don't bear out any favoratism, of any kind.

  2. No you idiot.

  3. I really can't believe that there are people out there that accuse the refs of being on the wing's side!

Especially when everyone around the league thinks that sidney

    and gang p**p golden eggs.

It can be frustrating for a team to be outplayed like the pens are right now... but you can't go blaming everyone else.

this is the pens biggest downfall... they have no one else to blame but themselves...and they don't see it!

they are a proud bunch who isn't willing to say: "the way that we've played against the other eastern teams isn't going to work against a western team."

and that's a terrible attitude to have.

I've heard it said that the eastern conference is set up around their superstars... they believe that what the best player says, goes... it's THEIR team.

and that the west has the belief that 'they're only as strong as their weakest link"... and i believe that plays into the pens struggles.

it's not about reffing, it's not about 'obstruction'... it's about being outplayed and doing absolutely nothing about it.

    plain and simple.

  4. they're probably being paid.

  5. the refs are definetly not on detroits side

that no goal call was the worst thing ive ever seen in my life

  6. I thought game 1 the refs were calling in favor of the Pens

game 2 was more even, there were bad calls and good calls both ways. I think a lot of people are saying they were calling in favor of the Wings because they didn't call that dive on Osgood.

I don't think the refs are TRYING to call in favor of anyone though. I just think it ends up in favor of one team over the other.

Regardless, you can't blame the way either games turned out on the refs. The Penguins simply can't skate with the Wings. At least not in the 1st 2 games. Lets see if they will bring some goals to game 3 tonight.

  7. The refs are probably going to be on the Pens side tonight :/

  8. The Refs want to wrap this season up quickly so they can go home for the summer or hit the golf course with Darcy Tucker.

  9. First off when you get a goaled called back I'm pretty sure that means the refs aren't on your side. If the Penguins want to use that as their excuse they an but you don't get to the Stanley Cup Finals just because the refs are on your side. And you don't dominate the other team just because the refs are on your side. Penguins need to stop using that as an excuse for playing very poorly

  10. No way.  The Wings have had two perfectly good goals called back so far during the playoffs.  If the refs were "on their side" do you think they would've waved off the goals?  The Penguins really need to stop using that as an excuse and own up to their lack-luster Stanley Cup Final performance thus far.  The obstruction excuse just makes them look like sore losers.  They are a good team but they need to get it together before it's too late.  There is no shame in losing to the Wings  (the Wings have had an outstanding season), but there *is* shame in making up dumb excuses.

  11. There not on the wings side they just always make bad calls!

  12. If they are calling a stick on HOLMER touching Fleury a no goal, then they have to call MALONES. PERIOD. End of story!
