  1. Not really, just the 4 basic functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division will get you through. You'll learn about debits and credits, double-entry bookkeeping, assets, liablilities, accounting standards, etc. I love accounting.


  2. Accounting is the daily use of math to organize financial information. Fortunately, computers do all the grunt work these days in doing the actual mathematics. However, it is still necessary to sometimes be able to come up will ballpark estimates in your head.


  3. It's a lot of organizing and basic computing.............

    CPA's have confusing jobs but regular staff accountants just have basic boring jobs.

    & most accountants I talk to tell me they work 60 plus hours per week.  I wouldn't recommend this field.
