Do you really have to take your contacts out while having a c-section?

Iv herd before having a c section you have to take your contacts out.. do you? and if so why? I'm very upset i have contacts and wear them 24/7 and cant see absolutely nothing with out them, i want to see my baby girl when she comes out for the first time, now afraid I wont be able to even see her.

  1. Yes, you do.  It's for your own good truly.  It's for the worst case scenario.  Wearing contacts continually is a dangerous practice anyway, to be frank.  I would invest in a pair of glasses and ask your birthing partner to bring them along to give you when the baby is born.

    The reason is that you may have to have a general anesthestic.  If so, you will be fully put to sleep, and they must have you in full surgery readiness.  The last thing they want is a recovering mother in ICU with contacts stuck to her eyes which someone has to try to fish out or worse, they don't know, leave them in and then you get an eye infection on top of everything else.  


  2. yes. you have to take off everything like that. jewerly, nail polish, etc. im having my 2nd c/section in sept, and i am going to wear my glasses so i can see instead of my contacts

  3. You have to before any surgery - there is the risk of damaging your eyes (like when you fall asleep with them in).  better get some glasses.  good luck  :)
