Do you really have to verse a level 101 spirit in the Lost City quest in Runescape?

Question

I was looking at the Quest walkthrough for Lost City on Runegamer.com and it did NOT mention anything about versing a level 101 spirit. Is this true? Only people who have completed this Quest please comment.

Yes you do, but there is a safe spot. If you bring just plain runes you will be allowed on the island, and can stand behind the safe spot and mage it.

That quest is hard but don't be discouraged here is a great walk threw. almost level can kill the spirit there is a spot you  stand and the spirit can't hurt you but you need lots of arrows.

i did along time ago yes he is a level 101 but he is easy to beat all you need is food
