Do you really need a recommendation letter to be accepted in to a private university?

i will send in everything that's required except a recommendation letter, will i still be accepted? i'll be applying to private universities in the bay area in ca.

  1. You will need more than one recommendation letter to be noticed. There are two kinds of recommendations the universities like: first, those from your teachers and second, "personal" recommendations. These can be from anyone: a group for which you did community service, a member of the clergy, or even a friend's parent who knows you well. I have written recommendations for my students and for my daughter's friends and was always happy to do so.  


  2. no you will not be accepted. a recommendation letter is required you should have known this.

  3. If it is a required part of the application you are sending in then you should definitely have one.  They may see it as an incomplete application otherwise.

  4. If it's required your application will be incomplete and no you won't be accepted.  Don't you have a teacher that can write one for you?  It's important!  (college prof)
