Do you really need to use Zippo fluid?

When you read a booklet that comes with a new Zippo lighter, they say to ONLY use Zippo fluid with it, does it really matter? can you just use cheaper brands?

It doesn't matter.  They just want you to have loyalty to the company so they can pad their own pockets.
