Question:

Do you really think the world is going to end in 2012?

This is quite scary! Apparently, on December 21 2012 the world as we know it is in for some dramatic and devastating changes. The earth will become so inlined with the sun that the earth will spin faster than ever, causing the plates under the earth to shatter and break, which causes a earthquake. Supposedly, the water will reach to extremely high levels and the water will overfill all land, and we go under water..scary. That or we get so close to the sun, that the it sets direct fire, and earth will blow up.

  1. Really?

    Really, really, really?

    No.

What is scary is that there are still people falling for the Big 2012 Hoax Off.

Not only the things you describe will not happen, they CANNOT happen.  They are all impossibilities.

The Earth is always in line with the Sun (through two points you can always draw a line).

The Earth cannot start to spin faster.  If anything, our spin rate is decreasing steadily (1 second slower every 40,000 years).

    ... and so on.

  2. 3 of these  '2012 questions in the first ten.

The world won't last till 2012.

Terminal stupidity is reaching critical mass and we're all

    DOOMED.

The Earth will disolve in a giant flood of drool which

    the Sun will then evaporate.

It will happen Dec 12 Of this year.

    There's my prediction.

Who's going to ask a question about it?

  3. How can people so quickly forget about the Y2K scare?

  4. So Facebook is an authority now?  No, all the 2012 disaster stuff is all lies, fraud, foolishness and abject superstition.  It is intended to promote faked up documentaries on Fox TV, faked up books and faked up DVDs and to direct traffic to fraudulent websites.

Planet X, galactic central planes, magnetic poles moving, Nibiru, geographic poles moving, asteroids, Nostradamus, the I Ching, Bible codes, Revelation,  photon belts, planetary alignments, the Mayan calendar and all the rest are unmitigated drivel.

Anyone who predicts disaster in 2012 is a liar or a fool.  No exceptions.

  5.   Nope!

  6. No way. You cant live on what on what people say. No one can predict it. Only God knows and the Bible says it will come unexpected to everyone.

  7. It would seem this would be a headline story if it were believes by anyone that is credible and it's not.

  8. Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, other than the solstice, which happens every year.

None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.

All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!

  9. we should all feel priveledged to see the end of the world and be the last known human beings that is indeed the plus side.

  10. Theres so many theories, people are just making them up. What ACTUAL PROVEN evidence is there that the world will end then, or that "allignment" will actually do something catastrophic? NONE. Think about that...the scientists arnt as stupid as everyone makes them out to be.

  11. August 11, 3114 B.C.   That's when this particular Mayan calendar began.  Does that mean that was the beginning of the world?  No.  Then why does December 21, 2012 A.D. = the end of the world?

A celestial event?  Perhaps.  An awakening?  That would be nice, yet doubtful.    Nothing at all?  Highly probable.  A cycle with an arbitrary start and end point?  Does the prophecy paradox play into this at all?

Many alive today are aware of the mayan calander.  December 21, 2012 is etched in many peoples minds, as... well, as a "something."

Having spent a fair amount of my spare time "researching" this date, and the source of the calendar, I've decided that nobody KNOWS anything about it.  And that, truly is the beauty of time.  Nothing about the future is guaranteed.  The present is often overlooked.  And everything about the past is certain, even though nobody remembers or understands those certainties the same way, or accuartely, or at all.

My "research"  (I use quotes when I refer to research I have done, simply because, I didn't pesonally research it, I have merely read things and listened to people who have, and have come up with my own, sometimes biased conclusions...  and you are entitled to your own, of course!)

The Mayans were amazing time keepers and astronomers.  In fact, I suspect that their calenders are even more accurate than the ones we use today.  We have a calendar that has 365 days in a year.  But that is not entirely accurate with the cosmic calendar, so every four years, we stick another day into the year.

But it is still flawed... so  every four hundred years,  there are three "leap years" that WE DON'T OBSERVE!  Every year ending in "00" that is NOT a multiple of 400, there is no leap day, even though we know that every 00 year should be a leap year based on the every fourth year explaination.  2000 made the cut because it IS a multiple of 400.

1700, 1800, 1900, 2100, 2200, and 2300 have not/will not include leap years, even though there was/will be one four years prior to and following each of these.  (Still with me?)

Okay, so maybe keeping our seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries and beyond consistent with the cyclical phenomenon of our gravitational interaction with the sun is complex and flawed.  But it's close to accurate, well, for the purposes of any one person's lifetime.

The Mayans were possibly  much more scientific and mathematical in their observations of our planet's orbit and in their timekeeping.

    BUT

They had more than one calendar!!!!  The one this question focuses on is actually most widely accepted as their celestial calender,  and why not??? It ends on the winter solstice... when the sun appears to align with the galactic center, after well over 5,000 years.

They had a calender that many believe is a "cataclysmic" calendar, as well as a meterlogical one.  One that would predict behaviour and disaster.  but even these seemd to have about the success rate of randomly guessing what card out of the deck i am holding right now.  They had one  that would predict drought and storms, which was suppossedly extremely accurate..  the 2012 enddate, from my studies, is not amongst these "prophetic" calenders.

Every generation seems eager to seek armageddon in their lifetime.  It's the ego fix, I think.  I mean, why else would I be here now, if not to experience the end of everything?

If it is a prediction, then what if it's a self-fullfilling prophecy?

(example) I say, "Someone's going to throw a water ballon at the president on Thursday."

Then someone does.  Did ipredict it?  Was it unevitably going to happen?  Or did the thrower get wind of my prediction, and make the decision to turn me into a prophet?

Returning to the sun's alignment with the center of the galaxy,  astronomical alignments are typically uneventful.  They would look really cool, to an observer, looking at us from say,  directly "above" or directly "below"  (be it solar north/south, galactic north/south, etc. depending on the event) very little "change" in anything has really been pinpointed as a result of, or a reply to these events.  Take the planetary alignments of "May 5"  that occurred twice in the first half of this decade...

Don't mind me,  I'm just adding as many discussion topics as possible on something that I don't think anybody really knows the answers to!

  12. I think its gonna end in 5 billion years.

  13. i think not

  14. No, not "apparently."

This is a myth based on the irresponsible, (and repeated) airing of a ridiculous pseudo-documentary on the History Channel. That network, and the Discovery Channel and Fox, will air anything they feel will get a bigger audience. Sometimes, their shows are good and worth watching. Other times, they are foolish, sensationalist, tabloid-style hype. It is often difficult to tell which is which, unless you know about a subject. I know about the history of doomsday predictions, pseudoscience, and astronomy.

The Mayan calendar does not predict the end of the world. They did keep an accurate calendar, but contrary to popular opinion, never predicted any world event accurately. They couldn't predict their own demise; why should they be able to predict ours?

The alignment with the galactic center is not going to happen. It comes fairly close to happening EVERY year on Dec 21, and will be exactly the same as it always is, in 2012. Even if some perfect alignment did occur, there is nothing about it that could affect the earth. It's like saying, "When these three parking spaces are occupied by three red cars, the world will come to an end."

Doomsday prophets have always been around and they are always wrong. Every 5 to 10 years, some prediction catches the public's attention and scares a lot of kids...usually thanks to irresponsible media decisions. Dozens of different doomsday scenarios have been piggy-backed on to this date since the show aired. Go to this site to see how many predicted apocalypses we have already missed.

All that Nibiru stuff is bunk, too. No such planet has ever been discovered. The claim that it was discovered some 25 years ago is not true.

  15. 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like  the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed by Terence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called "the abomination that causes desolation" that will be set up in the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies when the antichrist is imbued with the power of satan himself. When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but very soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you; either way it still comes.

Things to look for to PROVE it to yourself soon:

Christians and Messianic Jews look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Messianic Saviour in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as "Children of Light". If you try to equate 2012 with Y2K or some other date that cried wolf, then you will be making the worst mistake in your life. Research all these things FOR YOURSELF!

  16. bla bla bla bla bla. No, the world isn't going to end. There have been tons of predictions as to the end of the world and as far as I can tell none of them have happened yet.

    Don't believe everything you read.

Send me all your money and prepare for the end.

  20. Im masterbating right now :]

  21. Too many so called 'co-incidences' piling up!

  22. "Apparently" someone is playing you for a fool.

    Get even with them.

Tell them that their tin-foil hat is leaking.
