I read it somewhere that eyeshadow expires after a year... i mean,, not if you haven't used 'em... it's a year after you use em... because there can be bacteria....

i want to invest on some MAC e/s or perhaps lots of NYX too... but considering this 'fact', i don't know what to do... i want to buy lots of colors so i can just pick any colors i want to wear.... so i don't think i can 'finish' it in a year or so.... what do you think??? do you really throw away those e/s after a year....?! i mean, what happens to those MUA (make up artists) that has lots and lots and lots of colors...?!

  1. powder eyeshadow can last up to 2 years, whereas cream only lasts for about 6-12 months.  buy powder eyeshadow and you should be fine with all the shadows you want, as long as you're sure you're gonna wear it.

  2. as soon as you have put them on your eyes the bacteria has gone into the eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara. which really you should chuck after six months not a year.  so instead of going crazy and buying them all at once just buy three and then in a few months another three and do that.

because not throwing them away can give you stis, pink eye, and lots of other nasty infections.  same with foundation.

  3. just buy the smallest amount you can of each color you want. then you can buy more if you run out.

  4. I buy the smallest packing of cosmetics possible and after 9 months I really do throw it all away and begin again.

Usually new shades have come out anyway.....so I don't have a problem doing that even though I buy MAC, Bobbie Brown, and Chanel.

  5. I don't.

  6. I personally have been using eye shadows that I've owned for years and nothing has happened. They're made of powder and they're dry, unlike other moist products like foundation, they don't hold a lot of bacteria. MUA most likely use up their eye shadows before a year is up... I don't throw away any of my eye shadows until I finish using them...especially high-end brands..I wouldn't worry too much about it. Things like mascara, lipstick, liquidy products, on the other hand, should be thrown out after a certain period of time.
