McCain says he expects the military presence in Iraq to last 100 years, I understand the necessity of it but as America continues to quell, shape and mold the country into a democracy our sons and daughters are getting killed and ambushed by terrorist, rebels, and mercenaries. This question is mainly for the republicans because I want them to JUSTIFY this war because in my opinion McCain is only another Bush waiting to get in office. (Leave your Obama hate comments at the door) Thank you please be respectful and detalied, we all want the best for this country.

  1. I predicted 150 years to educate the "hate" out of that illiterate part of the planet.

Have you ever noticed how much trouble there is in places that still use the term "tribes"???

The jackass's hate each other more than they hate us.

The literacy rates are under 50%. Even Saudi Arabia is only 73%. They are taught to hate from birth. WTF should we expect from them.

    SSG US Army 73-82

Edit: Adam is right. I over looked the improvements. We will still be there though, that is not going to change. They need lot's of help in how to behave and respect the other religions around them.

  2. I don't understand people like you. McCain is another Bush? Do you even understand politics?? One is a conservative Rep. The other is a moderate/liberal Rep, has brokered many deals with Dems, has been soft on immigration, was for abortion, against guns and believes in Al Gore's Global Warming. How can you even begin to compare the two?? Most Rep's will vote for McCain simply to keep a socialist out of office, not because they like the guy. And even the "Big O" has made mention earlier HE is willing to rethink his Iraq strategy and stay longer if needed. C'mon man, get a clue here.......

  3. No, you misunderstood. Reporters asked about his stand point on the war in Iraq and he answered saying we can stay 100 years if that's what it takes. It's not going to take 100 years. Although there will be troops there for a long time definitely for another 10 years. They will keep American troops there. The military doesn't just pull every single troop after war. Majority of them will come home once it's over and few will stay. We have troops stationed all across the world, now we get to add some to Iraq. Was the war technically "illegal"? Yeah but we had evidence and suspicions of WMD and we wasn't going to take no more BS. Call it a war for oil if you want but the war is about over and check out our prices still sky high. This war was based on American safety hate it or love it, deal with it.

  4. Please note we have a military presence in Germany and Japan. We haven't lost any men in combat there since WW2. But we are still there. Thats is all McCain means.

  5. I have to laugh everytime I read something like this.  You do realize that things over in Iraq have gotten a lot better.  I had a friend (a Marine grunt) get back a few months ago and not have to fire his weapon once in combat in Ramadi of all places .  How people can be so out of touch with what is actually going on is just sad.

  6. He didn't say he expected the military to be here, what he said was that if it took 100 years, he would stay the course. Basically, he is saying that we need to finish the job in Iraq and not pull out too soon.

  7. Whatever it takes.  I have done my guard duty.  The time has come to pass it on to others.  Its been that way since our country was a baby.  Without those willing to stand guard, and possibly give their life for others, we would not be here.

  8. Personally, I do not, but it seems necessary. I would want fewer people getting killed, but that's something we cannot control. If this 100 year war is going to stop terrorists from bombing other countries, then let it be so. Obama wants us to leave Iraq alone, but I don't think that's the right (or practical) way to go. Bush did a great job in making sure that the war's in Iraq, not in America, so I don't know if your comparison is an insult or not.

  9. That of course is not what he said, but you already know that so your whole premise is pointless.

  10. It's a very depressing thought, although it may be a very long time until all military presence from westerns countries have left, I don't think 100 years is a realistic time; maybe 20-50 years.
