Before you answer, I would suggest that you ask as many veterans as you can about the effectiveness of the VA. That is national health care

  1. I don't necessarily want national health care, because I think that the competitive market aspect of it will drive up the effectiveness of treatment and the quality of care.  However, it is outrageously expensive and insurance companies are really working Americans over.  There has to be a way for *gulp* the government *end gulp* to do something to stop companies from running Americans through the dry cleaners every time they have anything form a cold to colon cancer.  I hate the idea of the government getting involved in that aspect of our economy and life, but at the same time, we must do something...

  2. Yes.  I live in the UK and benefit from national healthcare.  Look abroad to see how it works.

FACT - The USA spends more on healthcare per person than any other nation on the planet.

FACT - US kids aged under five are more likely to die in the USA than they would in most other countries with universal healthcare.

  3. I absolutely want universal health care.  I am a cancer patient that can never leave my job now.  I am to scared my new insurance would deny all my claims as pre-existing.  I am seriously considering moving to Italy/France just for the free healthcare and 30 hour work week.

  4. National health care is an assembly line .I lived through it in Germany. If the Dr. get a flat rate for every patient he sees you can imagine what kind of care you will receive. My husband goes to the VA clinic and so far he has received exellent care there.

  5. or they should ask the Canadians who cross the border to PAY for their health-care here because it doesn't work there.

Unless, you want to wait in line for hours or wait months for a routine checkup or drive great distances to find a doctor because it isn't worth being a doctor anymore.

You know why great doctors are great.. because they are compensated for it.  Just like why successful companies are successful and are cutting edge, because you do well -- you get rewarded.

Ask any of the doctors and nurses if they think it is a great idea and they will tell you NO.

  6. no but reform is needed this is a joke people abuse the system on welfare and such and Medicare and medicaid are a joke and prescription drugs are crazy my mother in law uses a berating treatment for asthma that is 845 a month who can do that

  7. oh so bush's administration failure is the citizen's fault now?

When the whole nation is scrutinizing the effectiviness you better believe it will work

  8. I want GOOD national health care. Many countries in Europe, such as France, Germany, England, The Netherlands, Finland, have quality national health care. I think it is a disgrace what we do to our vets. Our priorities are completely backwards in this country.

So, yes, I want national health care. But I want the government to do right by it and not underfund it.

  9. Not especially.

It seems like a pretty half-baked idea to me. I'm not sure how well the market could handle it and the possibility of how much time it would take to receive care, the care not always being efficient and having the federal government managing it and more over, constantly interfering with it is very risky. It has its pros as well as its cons but it remains a very sketchy plan and I would rather not have it at all rather than get it and have it fail miserably.

  10. I don't think a national free heathcare system would work very well. What I have suggested is something akin to a national HMO.

It would cost $75 per month for family coverage. All the funds would be deposited into a high interest account and not usable as general funds. In addition, you would also be issued a national insurance ID card. Proof of citizenship will be required for all family members that are covered.

You would be required to make co-payments for office visits and prescriptions.

  11. Nope.

I have friends from canada, and I spent a few miserable nights in europe with a sick child.

National health care does not work.  sounds great, but does not work.

Like most of the liberals ideas.

  12. Bush and the Repukes have brought us to NO health care so

  13. well.. first off.. just because one government program is bad... it doesn't mean we should throw the baby out with the bath water...

"hey, welfare doesn't work, let's dismantle the military"

FRANCE has a system that works pretty well, highly rated by many different groups... why can France do it for their poor people, but we can't do it for our veterans... that's the question that we should be asking...

  14. I read this the other day "Do you like the post office?  If you do, you will LOVE national health care"

  15. h**l no.

I don't have healthcare, don't want healthcare, don't need healthcare.

Why do I want the government to give me a bill to pay?  Thanks but no thanks.

  16. Maybe this does not directly answer your question, but we definitely need to get the corporations out of our health care system. We need preventative health care, not be a society pumped up with tons of pharmaceutical drugs. Everyone should be able to afford care. There needs to be a change.

  17. The VA isn't nationalized healthcare, and nothing like what Obama proposes anyway. He's talking about everyone having access to the same health insurance that government workers receive. There will still be private interest and competition.

  18. My grandfather,a Korean War vet was left waiting for 9 hours to see a doctor about his hearing loss. They apologized and told him to come back tomorrow and they would make him another appointment. He shook his head and just left.

I was active duty Navy, currently reserve now while I finish school, and let me tell you... The bigger the government run hospital is, the more of a soup sandwich it is.

So to sum up my answer I would say NO!

Although, the government had done a great job with our money regarding welfare, social security, medicare/caid..... Right?

  19. If government-run health care is anything like the DMV, Social Security, Public  Education, or The U.S Post Office then heck yes! I'm all for it.

I love long lines, poor service, increased costs from lack of competition and bureaucrats determining who gets what service based on their potential future tax generation. Poor service is especially important to me regarding major surgery.

  20. that is not national healthcare. that is healthcare for vets, and yes it's horrible. but if we had national healthcare, they could go to a hospital instead of the va hospital.

    dur dur dur

  21. h**l Yes, any more stupid questions?

  22. Yes it should have been Implemented a long time ago Look at Canada and ALL major European countries they all have free Health care While people here in America Suffer from corrupt Insurance Companies and a broken Healthcare system. The only people who don't want national Healthcare are the Big insurance companies and people who are rich...

People who don't want this  obviously don't know a lot about this watch when you get  older and you or a love one gets disease and The $20,000 surgery isn't covered by insurance it's happened to many times to to many people..

If Canada or Even France which makes 40% less national revenue than us can Afford national Healthcare so can we.

  23. Yes, I rather like having national health care it does a lot of good for a lot of people.

  24. Yes remove all the profiteers and save 30% cost of your health care.
