Just to let everyone know, they do check the wall for places that need fixed and they do repairs every so often.  So, to answer your question, so long as there are humans on this earth I believe the Great Wall will be here for years to come.  Forever is quite a long time but to put it in your words, yes, it will be here forever.  It's a very important symbol to the Chinese.  Do some research on China or watch the Olympics (which are in Beijing, China)  if you can.  It gives more information that what you think to watch the Olympics.

I think it should be preserved. Who knows, in 1 million years it may be the only thing left on this planet to show humans were ever here.

Lots of the wall are missing do to erosion and building material for houses. Maybe the wall should be used for more construction. They could be colored different to show they came from the wall. Am i being silly or is it that important to preserve this wall i will probably never see.
