Question:

Do you recycle your old spectacles?

Old spectacles can be used to help disadvantaged people overseas. Most opticians will accept old spectacles for recycling or try:

Vision Aid Overseas helps needy people in developing countries with bad eyesight, mainly by supplying them with second-hand spectacles. Donated specs must be in good condition and unfortunately they can't use bifocals.

Or drop them off at Help the Aged or Oxfam.

  1. Hmm....as i remember Ive used only one pair of spectacles n i just dumped it in the thrash...i wouldn't have done this if i knew about this method.Thank you...this is a useful piece of information.

  2. Check with the local schools they occasionally do drives to collect glasses and should know what to do with them

  3. Your local Lions Club will take them for donation. They rework them (if necessary) and give them to kids who can't afford glasses. This charity keeps the donation in your community.

  4. Sorry, dont wear glasses, but if I did, I would replace the lenses and then ask what to do with the actual lenses. But what you gave me (information-wise) is a good cause.
