  1. Funny Cide was competitive in most of those races that he lost, at least until the last couple.  His connections got realistic about where he was at  physically and age 7 and put him in a race he could win...and then retired him, another good move.

  2. I certainly do remember " Funny Cide ". I heard that he is now  semi-retired and working as a pony.He is a great horse.I read the book about him and it was a great story.

  3. Yes, I remember him. He got our hopes up for a Triple Crown winner the year before Smarty Jones came along.

  4. ahh, yes, I was there.

Someone came out and said that Jose had a shocking device in his hand, although it was later shown that the so-called "incriminating photo" was actually showing Jerry Bailey's silks through Jose's hands.

  5. Funny Cide is now a stable pony for Barcley Tagg.

  6. Actually Funny won his last race and is now retired - Saratoga will have a special day to honor him coming up in August. He *MIGHT* become a pony, but that decision hasn't been made. Like any race horse he'll need time off to unwind then several options have been mentioned, one of which was a pony; another was maybe a show horse and I'm sure the KY Horse Park would welcome him as with other top geldings residing there.

  7. Yep, he came in third in the Belmont Stakes!! A Shame!!  He broke his losing streak a couple of weeks ago!! Too bad he's retired now! I loved Funny Cide!!

  8. Yeah, he was very sharp early on before getting worn down in the Belmont by Empire Maker.  He wasn't quite the same since, especially when he was well beaten in those Breeders Cup Classic races.

Yeah, there was some sort of controversy regarding Jose Santos, but it was said that it sort of looked like an electrical device because there was some daylight there, showing parts of Empire Maker's Juddmonte silks (donned by Jerry Bailey).

  9. Funny Cide won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. After winning at Finger Lakes Racetrack, he retired with $3.5 million in earnings.

Don't disrespect Funny Cide. I wish my career had gone so well.

  10. yes,he did shock him,....no shocking no winning...
