  1. YES!  YES!  YES!  Finally, I can enjoy my drink and dance without having to breathe smoke, expose my skin to it, get a scratchy throat or watery eyes!  I can walk all over the place without having to worry about the air I'm breathing and my hair actually smells decent when I leave. Thank you God!

What was bad is that they smoke one after another, after another, after another and on and on.  Several of them light up at once and some just can't stop.  Walking a few feet away or putting your cigarette down by your chair doesn't help much.  I don't know why they think it would.  Now, their cold, so they all stand right outside the door and create a wall of smoke for you to walk through before entering/exiting.  We need to have an enclosed, seated and heated (or air conditioned) place for them.  They shouldn't be allowed to bring their pets or kids in there.

  2. All too well.

  3. yes

  4. People should have the choice as to whether or not they want a smoke free pub, say one pub in three for smokers and people who don't mind one way or the other. I don't smoke now.

  5. It was worth giving up smoking for 18 months ago!! And I genuinely mean that!!!!!

  6. I used to work in a smokey pub and I am non-smoker.

    Glad it changed......

  7. Yes I stopped going to pubs years ago because I returned home stinking of stale smoke.

Now it's great. I can enjoy a pint and still return home without putting all my clothes straight in the washing machine.

  8. Yh you dont come home stinking of smoke..so much better.

  9. i agree totally, my favourite pub is now so much nicer. i swear theyve redecorated in there since the smoking ban as well, its just really cosy and friendly.

  10. Definitely better. But now i have to put up with my family smoking, really does my head in! Always come out of the shower to be met with a wall of smoke. Even if they have finished smoking i can still smell it and they bring it aorund the house on their clothes, if i go to my room i have to spray aftershave. Arrrggh, they should ban it in homes too!

  11. I remember,  As an ex smoker I appreciate a smokless area but it should NOT be an exercise in government-Let the free market prevail.  When enough people want smoke free there will be (would have been) smoke free.)  Whats next mandated no conversation, no s*x, no etc etc.

  12. I smoke occasionally, as I do enjoy it. However, I never smoked in pubs before.. I simply think it's not attractive. I really like it better now that the air is lighter in the pubs. It's nice to go home not smelling like a 5 alarm fire.

It's going to make it easier on me when I finally do quit.

    *smile

  13. Such a shame that doorways and passages are packed with smokers- went thru Stansted airport a few weeks back, smoked a couple of f**s just going thru the doors and I dont even smoke and they think that it is ok for them to block the door ways

But pubs are so much better

  14. I am a non smoker but as my smoking friends don't socialise now in the pub all the non smokers have had lost their friends. The whole atmosphere has diminished now.

  15. I don't miss them for a second! Long hair and smoke =s***k!

  16. Hi!

Yep!!  I'm with you on that one mate!!

We hardly ever  went in pubs and clubs before the ban, but now it's brill not to come home absolutely stinkin' of smoke.

    Nice question!

  17. I kind of agree, but i dont go to pubs often, and the smell of smokey pubs means to me; "aah, Im in a pub" :P

But, as i said, i dont go often, so i suppose it would be worse if i went there a lot...

  18. yes i agree but the doorways getting into pubs need sorting out

  19. i agree most definitely.

  20. god yes, its much better now

  21. I think you should not smoke in restaurants but you should enjoy your local pub now while there are some left.

Another badly thought out "knee jerk" reaction by this government when a perfectly acceptable answer to both sides of the argument could have been reached without hundreds of pubs closing down.

  22. No way! I will miss those smoky and dimly lit bars and pubs forever.  Apart of my life has ben taken away by high pressure groups.

  23. It is better that the pubs are smoke free from the point of all the staff - however as a child I remember my dad taking me to the local and I loved the smell of tobacco and beer!

I am a smoker and I have no problem going to the beer garden, the gardens in the pubs in Ireland are well provided - heaters, shelter etc

  24. I must agree it is great in resturants...  I am a smoker and never spoke while people were eating in the area!  I suppose the pubs are better too, although it's a bummer going outside for a smoke! Lol!

  25. as a non smoker i love it

  26. as a non smoker I agree 100% it a pleasure to go out now

  27. I loved the smoky pubs.

  28. I totally agree, I used to work in a pub and when I'd get home I'd be mingin.

  29. *sniff, sniff* .. i remember them fondly
