Do you remember this type of signal light "tripper"? It hasn't been used for a while where I live.

It was a pad in the pavement, about 12 inches wide and about 8 feet wide. When you drove over it, it would depress and trip the light. I recall it was a high maintenance device, and was used sparingly. If you do recall its use, I'd appreciate any details you may have.

  1. This is a sensor installed in the pavement which was used to help conserve fuel. They are very common here and are also very good where intersections are on busy streets or highways. They help to keep the flow of traffic moving on busy roads and when weight crosses on the side roads it then allows the motorist to go within a short wait.
