Do you remember when Houston, Texas was a good city?

Remember Astroworld? Remember Richmond Strip? Remember when areas like Clear Lake were good areas? Now Houston is filled with nothing but thugs and wannabe thugs. Most of the entertainment has vanished and the nightlife and clubs, ALL GHETTO. I'm glad I have enough money to get out but I feel for the people of Houston who are stuck there....

  1. Well I think that's a part of getting older. You, and the people your age stop cruising Richmond and going to Astroworld so it shuts down. I have been up and down all three coasts but I still love Houston. It's not compacted and dirty like the old cities of the northeast. It doesn't get ravaged by hurricanes year after year like the cities in Florida. Isn't insanely expensive like the cities on the west coast. But I admit I do miss the old times on Richmond and Astroworld and I am sure there will eventually be enough of a demand to open another large scale amusement park, probably somewhere outside the city when land is somewhat cheaper. Until you and I will just have to keep trying something new until we find something that fits. Just the other week I found a great neighborhood cigar bar, and don't forget the "Rock the Bayou" concert going on this weekend.

  2. If it wasn't for the Medical Center, Nasa and Galveston, no one would live here.

  3. I can tell that you've been to other places. If you notice, only people from Houston that really haven't been out too much defend Houston. I grew up in Houston and I saw how nasty it became. Only poor people defend Houston. lol. I read that some guy wrote that they're more things to do in Houston besides night life. lol. Like what, Kemah boardwalk lol. All and all, I know what you are talking about but Houston hasn't been a good city since 2002. Houston people are rude, mostly filled with thugs or rednecks. lol **** Houston

  4. Astroworld Yes...if they had not sold out to Six Flags, it may still be around today. When they sold out to six flags, you lost the use of the transit buses from the parking lot to the entrace. Once six flags took over, the park started going down hill. It wasn't being kept up on it's looks (trash everywhere) landscaping was looking horrible, employees were getting "itchy" etc. I miss it from the days it was in the 1970's. Lots of fun then.

Never was into any of the other areas so don't know what they were like to begin with. Some area's are still very nice, but Houston got too big for my tastes, so now I live about 1 hr out of Houston...I can go when I want and I don't have to stay. That's the best of both worlds.

  5. It's still a good city.  When did it change?

  6. Yes, but then I grew up and notice I lived on the East side in the arm pit of the world.  And then got the heck out.

Move to Central Texas...it is the best!

  7. No, I'm to young to remember the good times. lol

  8. Funny, I don't feel stuck here.

Is that how you judge Houston, by the clubs and nightlife? There has always been something more to do here than just that.

EDIT for Natasha: You don't know what you're talking about.

  9. I can't say I do.

I lived down there for almost 2 years and hated just about every minute of it.  The weather is horrid year round and everyone seemed like someone was out to get them (chances are some of them probably did).

  10. Houston has always had (Wanna Be thugs). Since 1965. There's just more people now. 3.1 million. Among that many people, there's got to be 40k in "Butt Darts".

Carry a 20 shot clip and your fine anywhere in houston.
