Do you remember when having a Pantry was common?

Do you still have one? Mom had one and I loved it like a hide-away! Canned goods, many things there. I do not have one, how about you?

Many new houses being built now have a Pantry.  Such a good idea, and one that will catch on with many.

Sure do!! When I was growing up, we had a pantry off our kitchen which held lots of my Mom's canned goodies.

I bought a huge Pantry Cabinet a few years ago. It has the swing out shelves that holds an incredible amount of canned and dry goods.

I'll tell you that I have no idea what I did before I bought it. Also has a big cupboard on top to store the items that you don't use every day.

Yes, I live in a very old wonderful house and have a pantry.  I absolutely love it.  Actually when we were looking to move the pantry was one of the things that sold me on the house.

Yep.   Grandma had one.  I can remember a couple of places we rented when I was a young wife, too.

Now, we have a place that we own and have remodeled.  We had the carpenters add shelves for canned goods on one side of a room, shelves for household items on the other side.

Oh okay they are called Pantry's? I didnt even realise they were "old fashioned" or anything like that! lol. But nah I think I will stick to wardrobes and that!

Thankfully we have one. Our kitchen is very small and doesn't have a lot of cabinets, so the pantry saves us!

yes still have one keep my can goods in there and still hang my onions potatoes up on a nail, all so keep my canning equipment stored up on top with jars and such, along with a mouse trap

Yes I do, I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have one.  They are better than a hall closet.

I had a walk around hall way around my kitchen. I closed it up and made closets-- and one big pantry for my kitchen.

Our pantry is a little room beyond the utility room.  All kinds of goodies are store there.

I live in a one room studio apartment & missed having a closet or a pantry, so I purchased a wardrobe for my clothing, and a couple of towers with shelves & doors that I paired with an open shelf that I keep all my pantry items on or in.  

The studio does not come with pantry or a utility/broom closet.

It does happen to have one upper & one lower cabinet with a shelf & a door on it.  A small box of cereal won't fit on the shelf.  A can of soup will, but I don't use canned anything!

I loved the old houses with grand pantries that also had a cool air vent that went under the house to collect cool air to keep the pantry items fresh & ready to use.  That was when we canned our own food & stored bins & sacks o grain & potaoes & onions.  Those were fun days.  Everything seemed like it had a meaning.

I have had one in every house or trailer house that I have lived in even if I did have to make one myself.  Just like right now, I live in a travel trailer and very cramped for space. I made a shelf to put in my bedroom and didn't like that ideal as it was not that convenient to get the food that I needed. So I ended up getting yet another shelf and setting it on the back side of my table. Now I have a pantry that is in my kitchen. Hey I live alone except for my daughter that is here until she can get her travel trailer hooked up and it works great for us.

I havent seen a Pantry for several years ,I forgot they existed .My House is very old but they have been modernised inside ,so I expect the pantry was taken out

i have a smaller pantrys. i hade one in each kitchen! well there was to but it wasent thoes walk in ones. i seen one in the house me and my fam were gunna buy and i thought the people who lived there would keep bodies in there! lol that was funny lol so yeah.. smaller patrys arent as scarry...

I know some people who live in ground floor flat of a big house and they have a pantry, they keep everything in there except meat and fish (thats in a fridge).

My mom had one. It contained canned goods, dried beans and dried herbs. I have a small area in basement where I store root veggies, and spices. I learned a lot from my Mom.

I have one.  I think that a lot of houses that have been built in the past twenty years have pantries.  It's all about storage space these days with huge walk-in closets in the bedrooms and pantries in or near the kitchen.  Unfortunately, all the closet and pantry space has only encouraged me to hold on to more stuff.

I grew up with a pantry off our kitchen. That tiny room smelled of spices and and was filled with beautiful jars of tomato's, jars of green peppers and jars of yellow squash and much more. To day I live in an old farm house and it too has a pantry, a large one. It is nothing like mom's, my shelves are filled with veggies from the grocery store. the laundry room was in the basement so hubby moved it into the pantry. my pantry has two openings, one from the kitchen and the other into the dining room. I really like it. Now if I could make it like mom's.  Poppy

We don't have basements, so my pantry was located under the stairs.  Whenever my grandmother would come for a visit, I had to make sure there was enough room in there for her.  At the first hint of a rainstorm or just a little thunder, in she went.

We have a wooden cabinet thing as a pantry, but we use my bedroom closet as a pantry too

We have a pantry. Thank goodness. Our kitchen is small and very little cabinet and counter space. I'd be up a creek without it.

I have one its pretty much a closet with shelves and a bunch of food in it.  Its a very easy way to find food too.
