Why? Do you report poor taste, or people with whom you disagree, or people who aren't staying on topic, or people who are chatting...

What kind of Q&A do you report, and why?

  1. John had to make my new account come back because the scallawags deleted mine because they were jealous of my moon runs.

  2. Rarely.  I only report things that are truly offensive and shouldn't be read by people.

  3. I did for a while, but those were mostly the questions that specifically attacked me. I haven't reported anyone in months.

  4. I don't report people I disagree with simply because we have different opinions. That would backfire & lessen my influence when reporting actual violations of the guidelines.

    I will report:

    1) spam

    2) chatting

    3) rants

    4) verbally abusive users

    5) blatant racism, homophobia, misogyny, anti-Semitism, etc.

    6) illegal content

  5. I've never reported anything - if someone was being repeatedly personally insulting then I might do, but those kind of posts tend to get deleted pretty quick anyway.

People who report for the reasons you describe should get Top Reporter badges, so we'd all know who to block, lol.

  6. There's no point no ones ever gonna be up to every-ones standards,I try and steer clear of reporting,every-ones entitled to their opinion so they say but as long as its not too offencive.I just try and take it in good humour

  7. Reporting questions and answers is stupid.

If you don't like a question or an answer, so what. Ignore it, it's only text.

If you can't handle something someone asks maybe you shouldn't be on the computer. God forbid you might get exposed to something that arouses your emotions or makes you think.

  8. I never report anyone, I know how annoying it is to get a perfectly fine question deleted so I don't do it.

  9. No.  I think that's a pathetic thing to do.  If you don't like someone's question or answer you should tell them so, not go whining to the authorities.  People who do that are whimps.

  10. i dont... i think ppl shud be free to say wat they think... even if it ofends me...  but ppl always report me for no reason at all...

if u disagree with some 1 u can always give him a thumb down...

  11. I really hate the report monkeys because they are so self-righteous.

We should be able to know who they are so we can give them a drubbing.

  12. I find that reporting is a juvenile activity and is not my responsibility.  I come to this website to learn and to use my expertise to help others learn.  Reporting gives weak people a sense of importance and I simply don't partake in such behaviour.

If there needs to be moderation, it should be done centrally (i.e. increased overhead for Y!A, rather than assigning the responsibility to "community members."  It's a clever marketing ploy with only silly consequences.  I don't behave any differently here than I would in public, so I don't engage in juvenile behaviour.

The idea that people should be free to express thought without the fear of persecution is lovely, indeed, but simply doesn't apply to the policy of a private organisation, thus it's only proprietary guidelines that determine what is or isn't appropriate.  (And these guidelines are subject to change at solely the discretion of Yahoo!, Inc.).

  13. I report people who are being sheista heads toward other people sometimes, but it is rare and it depends on what they say about them.

  14. I don't usually report answers and questions. It'd have to be something serious for me to even consider it.

  15. anything that meant as serious insult on sensitive issues (gender, race, religion) and dirty ones.

    coz bad influence to people.

    coz it's not true.

to block something fake from kept on being spread that would cause bad reputation to sensitive things.

    coz it's dirty

  16. Nah, thats either childish or prudish behaviour.

  17. I report man hating/bashing answers and questions.

  18. No, I don't report questions. I used to, but only if they were racist, mean, or clones. Now I decided I have better things to do than to report things, now I just ignore things that violate the guidelines.

  19. I have never reported anyone.

  20. I used to report people for personally attacking others by name or communicating  threatening  language.  I stopped doing that about seven months ago because I began to see that I was taking it all too seriously.  I do block people from time to time if see that they only  exist to insult others or stir a black hole of negativity. I also made a vow to myself not to get in any  more flame wars.  It's just not worth it.

  21. No I don't report questions and answers and I never have and I never will and no matter how many times this is asked this is my answer.

TDs apparently a couple believe I do; they're out of luck, I don't.

  22. I would only report another YA user if they posted an answer or question that supports child pornorgraphy. That cannot be tolerated.

I won't report someone simply because I disagree with them. I know some of the GW&S trolls can be a bit annoying, but I won't report them unless it has to do with the subject I mentioned.
