much better gas mileage than a car, but not good enough to my liking, and dangerous as all get-up (largely as a result of cars on the road... and their drivers).

Most all motorcycles including cycles in the 1000cc + can clear 50mpg pretty respectable compared to even the honda cars and will put a smile on your face every time.  I ride my 1583cc Harley to work instead of my SUV- big savings at 53 mps compared to 12 mpg.  The mps just keep getting better the lower your cc's.  I had a 250cc that will get 80mpgs, but a 250cc isn't much use on the interstate and for long trips on the weekend.

So, 50-80mpg's depending on what you want to ride....all beat riding in the cage.  Have fun.

my jeep gets only 25, but my enduro gets 60mpg, its nice only spending $10 a week on gas.

< 1995 Virago 1100cc motorcycle...about 45 mpg, but ask any rider -- that's not the point...the point is loving the ride

Only if the motocycle is small engine and you ride it gently.

Otherwise the gas mileage is about 40 to 50 mpg.  My Civic can get 41 mpg, so it really doesn't save much.

To the person getting 41 mpg in a Civic- Bet you get the babes with that ride!

As for me on my Harley that only gets 45 mpg (54 highway), I not only get the gas mileage benefit, I can get all the boys (AND girls) with it. <heeheeheehee>

But, back to the original questions- yes, the bike gives great mileage. It also gives a sense of freedom- and a constant barrage of waves from other folks that are getting the same feeling (other riders, children, and little old ladies and gentlemen that wave as I go by).
