I find myself doing it all the time -- at least for the women athletes.

  1. Of course not. I root for people who have good sportsmanship, and seem to know what they're doing in a classy way. It doesn't matter how they look, just that they're delivering for their country, in the Olympics for example.

  2. Alicia Sacramone.

  3. Root for country first.

    Then attractiveness.

    (Japanese volleyball)

    =D

  4. Guilty. Sometimes unless there's a American competing. And if the American is attractive then its a bonus.

  5. Of course.  But, it also depends on how scantily clad there are.  It's important to encourage the attractive female athletes who where less clothing than their opponents.

So remember, it depends on how attractive they are AND how little clothing they wear.

    -- a really deep guy

  6. No, we reserve that for politicians <grin>.

  7. Not really.

I mainly go for them based on personality, I certainly don't like Federer, Bolt, or Safina for their looks. James Blake is a tennis player that just happens to be hot as h**l but I was drawn to him because of his personality and the fact everyone says hes the nicest guy on your. So as far as men go, definatly not.

However, I am less likely to like a player/team if they are a show pony- for example Sharapova, the All Blacks, Ivanovic, Verdasco, Tyson g*y... athletes and team thats put too much focus on their looks annoy me to the extent I probably won't support them

Thats not to say I won't support a pretty female, I like Dementieva for womens tennis, but its cos she doesn't throw herself out there and do all these modelling shoots, she just plays her game. I like that.

And I don't go for them based on nationality either.

    Kinda complicated..

    good question

  8. h**l YES

  9. No, I basically root for my country's athletes but I do respect the winner who wins gold, silver, or bronze reguardless from what nation they are from.

  10. thus why china made it mandatory for all their athletes to be attractive, with perfect teeth...

what horrible people we all are.

  11. Haha Mr Aviron, know that the Olympics is not a beauty contest!

  12. lol guys are different, no i go based on if they are from america.

  13. Oh yeah I do it all the time as well. I love watching the attractive female athletes. My particular favourite event is the pole vault. The Russian Yelena Isinbayeva is amazing (in more ways than one)! There were even a few cute American sprinters. Being Australian I don't usually support the US ;)

  14. I root for athletes based on their nationality, but I guess if I have no connection to their nationalities then I'd probably root for the hot one - the gals though lol  For men, I would probably look at their skill.

  15. I root for athletes based on how the carry them self and how they represent their country.

  16. No mainly root for my home countries athletes , regardless of looks, if they don't win I don't care who wins the event

  17. I our house we root for the athlete who wears the most bling :-D   We have a system here where we believe the more jewellery they wear the faster or better they are, for instance, just earrings means they're a bit cack, earrings and necklace bit better, necklace with bracelet and hooped earrings = guaranteed to win etc etc, oh and if they have a head band it means they are unstoppable

  18. All I know is that when the US was playing for the gold in women's volleyball, I was rooting for the rain!  Those little white bikinis get so transparent when they are wet... haha

  19. Absolutely. Those European women are the best.

e.g. Blanka Vlasic who got silver in the high jump

  20. I do. I root for all the ugly athletes, because I know their lives probably suck otherwise.

  21. I try not to. Try being the key word.
