  1. Do you spend days thinking abt this *rollz eyez*

  2. I'll say hi to anyone.  I'm just friendly like that.  There are many immigrants in my neighborhood and they're all really cool.

My great grandmother was an immigrant.  When she was 18, she escaped the Bolshevik Revolution (look it up) and I loved hearing stories about getting to America, about life in Russia, etc.

Your ancestors were immigrants.  Whether it was 100 or 10,000 years ago.

  3. I was brought up properly, which means pleasantly acknowledging anyone and everyone.

Living here in DC, which is south of the good old Manson/Nixon line (Maryland is south, Pennsylvania is north), means having good southern manners and attitude.  Southerners, regardless of culture or ethnicity, all make a point of speaking, even if they don't like each other.  Even during when racial tensions have at their worst, southerners have ALWAYS greeted each other in public.  Poor manners are the ultimate sin.

We have a huge international culture here in DC, so we have lots of everyone all mixed in close to each other.  Hispanic people tend to be a bit publically shy as a culture, but will respond pleasantly when you say hello.  Most of the African and Middle Eastern immigrants have very handsome manners.  Europeans are snotty, although some of the Eastern Europeans are nice.  Immigrants from China and Japan and some of the Koreans tend to be very rude, but many of the immigrants from Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, etc) are usually very cordial and polite.

  4. if someone speaks to you it is only common sense to speak to them, who cares if they don't look like you! treat others like you want to be treated

  5. Smile and wave. That's always polite.

  6. If I only said hi to people who looked like me, I would never say hi to anyone.  I am an individual.  I have never seen a single person in all my travels across my home country and in other countries who looked exactly like me.

  7. Of course I do!! There is nothing wrong with speaking to someone from a different culture than you. You have to be open-minded!

  8. Outside of work, I don't say Hi to anyone. I don't care how they look.
