In Detroit we say pop. where r u from and what do u say?

  9. I say soda, but most peeps up here in Northern Michigan say pop. When I lived down South everything was just called coke.

I lived in England and there it was called Pop but also I was bought up in New Zealand it was called Fizzy drink  but if we put fizzy drink in a class and added ice cream [Yum ] it was then called ice cream soda and I have heard it called a spider [ I think that was in England], Don't know where that came from. Now I live in Australia and call it a soft drink. Soft drink makes sense because it is not a hard drink like alcohol. Or we call it by it's name ie Coke , Fanta etc. We do have soda which is plain clear soda water that can have flavour added to it. Interesting question

  17. at my dads (virginia) we call it soda (thats what i call it) at my moms (west virginia) they call it pop lol so i use both names depending where i am

  19. I'm from England and grew up saying pop. It was a sad, sad day when I herd soda and started talking about the Soda Mountains. I say soda pop, also.

  21. I think that it is common to say "soda" in most obscure, Northern Californian dialects however I just call them sodapops myself.
