me and my friends always have this argument! they're all from California and we live in Oregon [i have my whole life] and call it soda and make fun of me because i say pop. they say i sound like a redneck.

actually I say both, together.     Growing up, my dad never called it "soda" or just "pop".   He would always ask me if I would like a "sodapop".    To this day that is what I refer it to also. I get a few weird looks from people because they either say "soda" or "pop" and I come along and say both of them together.  

So I would have to answer BOTH

I say soda, that's what you say in Cali, where I have spent most of my life. In the northwest where I live now, they say pop!

Both. It depends, sometimes I say pop, IDK why, my aunt says it alot, and every once and a while I have a scent memory and just say it as a reaction. But usually soda. I hate drinking it though. I prefer Ice tea.
