If there is a runner on 1st and i hit a grounder and reach first base because of a force out on 2nd base. Do i get credit for a hit. I think that would be called reaching base on a fielders choice, but am would i be 1 for 1 at the plate or am I 0 for 1.

  1. you do not get credited with a hit because your team still gets an out, so you are 0/1, but if if some did score one the play you will get a RBI and you go 0/0 with no official bat

  2. No, that happened a few times when I played little league.  Sorry but 0 for 1.

  3. You would get credited with a fielders choice and go 0 for 1. Its because the fielders probably could of gotten you out(not all the time tho) but decided to be smart and go to 2nd instead.

  4. No, you are credited with a Fielder's Choice. But you still go 0-1 if that happens. So no hit  for you

  5. You would 0 for 1, as the previous posters said. However, your OBA would not improve as a result of reaching base.

EDIT: Danny, even if the batter had driven in a run, he's still 0 for 1.

  6. This is definitely a Fielder's Choice, and you are 0-1.  Just to clear things further, even if they tried to get the runner out at second and did not succeed, it would still be judged as a fielder's choice.

  7. You don't get a hit and your average actually goes down. Its a fielders choice, meaning they cant get the double play so they rather get the man at second out. Your 0 for 1.

  8. it is a fielders choice cause they only got 1 base runner out so you are 0-1

  9. If any runner is put out on a force play (which includes a runner who is tagged before reaching a base that they are forced to advance to), then it is scored as a fielder's choice just as you thought.

A fielder's choice does not count as a hit, nor does it count as on-base, so you would be 0-1. A fielder's choice hurts both your batting average and your on-base percentage the same way as when you get out.
