Do you see 11:11 more than you statistically should?

My real question to those who have experienced this phenomenon is:

Is it still happening to you?

If not please also state when it stopped.

  1. I agree with Jasius.  It's a phenomenon called Confirmation Bias.  Basically, you remember each time you see a clock that's at 11:11 (or 12:34, etc), because it's a neat pattern.  Completely mundane and coincidental, but still neat.  At the same time, you forget all of the other times you look at your watch, because it's a boring, frequent event.  Since there's the disparity in memory, it seems like there is a statistical difference.

You might also be inclined to look at your watch more around 11-11:30 anyways (after all, it's getting close to lunch time), so it could throw off the statistics.

But, before you can make any conclusions, you have to look at the statistics objectively (i.e. carry around a pad of paper and take notes), since confirmation bias is a very powerful force, and one that everyone is susceptible to.

  2. I have been seeing 11:11 and 1:11 for years now almost every day.  Not just on clocks, license plates, phone numbers, signs etc.  I have no idea but i do see it all the time.  It is a little weird.

  3. Yes, especially on rememberance day.

  4. there is no way you are going to beleive this...buti was just thinking about 11 11 when i saw this question...i am serious....isee it all the time...i have done research on it but still feel like i am missing something....its not just onclocks,,,,its house numbers license plates,.,,,11  111   or 11 11 all the time... its weird that you asked this...people always react the same way when someone asks this question....that we look for it....but they dont understand......i was seeing 11 11 so much i looked it up and to my surprise many many have experienced this......i was dumbfounded,....well good luck

  5. Yes! I see it almost every time I look at the clock. I see 1:11 as well.

I don't only see it on my clock. I also see it on my ipod. Usually it will say 11 of 11 songs, or 1:11 on the song's timer.

The creepiest thing is that I will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, and look at the clock and it will say 1:11 and then I 'll go back to sleep.

I see it everywhere, everyday and  I wanna ****** know what the h**l it means! arggghhh.

  6. Yes, I do! I have for years now and it still continues to this day.

Strange you'd ask this question tonight and I just so happened to come across it while looking for something else.. But I guess that's how it works to begin with! =)

It happens to me when I'm LEAST expecting it (like with you tonight) and it usually means that something is changing in my life and a small test/lesson is upon me.

For instance, before I even *think* of getting a new job, I see 11:11 constantly for a few days straight.. then out of the blue, I get offered a new job! After that, I temporarily stop seeing 11:11 until something else is about to happen. That sort of change -- sometimes good, sometimes bad (or something noone would want anyway). If nothing new is happening and my life is in a stand-still of some sort, I stop seeing it for awhile.. but it always picks back up sooner or later.

There are people who swear its only on clocks and we're 'looking for it subconsciously' or whatnot.. but its just not the case. I'm a firm believer that we are all co-creators in our lives and greatly influence what happens to us, but this is something altogether different in my opinion. Its more of a 'sign' or helpful warning to me that life as I know it is shifting in some subtle way.

So with that, I should expect a little change soon! As odd as it was to come across this question tonight, its given me a bit more hope in my direction.

Perhaps my lesson is a renewal of myself, as signified by your curious reach tonight. =)

    What's changing for you?

  7. Yes LOL. I see 11:11 all the time. i didnt kno that it was that special. i just thot 11:11 was cool cuz it had 4 of the same numbers! wut other time is like that? NONE. LOL i see it all the time and continue too.

  8. Can't wait for 1/21/09

  9. I have always had a fascination for the number 11, I always told my parents it was my favorite number, not knowing why of course. I also started seeing the number 44, several years go....

  10. i see it a lot. but not only that but i see other times too all the time like that. like 5:55, 3:33 etc. its kind of wierd..lol

  11. i see it all the freaking time. if its not 11:11 then its 1:11, usually it means sumthings gona happen around that time or that you are connected to that time somehow.

  12. Have you ever wake up even before your alarm in the morning goes off?

It's the same concept, you like or hate 11:11.  I can't explain this but your brain will know when it's 11:11 and you will look.

  13. Not me but plenty do.http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_r...

  14. i used to see 9:14 ALL THE TIME. most of the time i happen to look at a clock it was 9 14. or at least it seemed like it lol cause thats not possible. But that was a while ago. now that you remind me, it hasn't happened for a long time. I guess it just stopped.

  15. Statistically, how often should I be noticing this?

Maybe you have some compulsive disorder that you're not recognizing.

And always taking notice of 11:11 is one of them.

I knew a guy that had to walk around his car 3 times before he could come into the building to work.

Then he'd count his pocket change 3 times in a row.

There were other oddities as well, but he was diagnosed as having the disorder.

  16. I see 9:28 all the time, constantly.  I believe these actions are subconscious.  Once we look at the clock and see 9:20, for example, our mind taps into our memory and causes us to, voluntarily or involuntarily, look at the clock sooner.

  17. No, I don't.  And since you bring up statistics, I would recommend that you carry around a pad of paper and write down the time every time you look at the clock, to see if you really see it more often than you should, or just think you do because when you do see it you think "there it is again", and take note of it, whereas normally checking the time is unremarkable and forgettable.

  18. No but I do see the # 10:10 more than I think I should.   I have been noticing me seeing that time on the clock whether it be day or night it doesn't matter.  I think it is weird but interesting just the same.   I won't even be concerned of the time but for whatever reason I look at the clock & it's 10:10 exactely.   This is like daily.   I don't know if it means anything but it is kind of strange that I only look at the clock at that certain time.

  19. Yes b/c at 11:11 you are suppose to make a wish. So it had stood out since elementary school. I still notice it every couple of months but it mainly stopped when I got old enough to realize that wishes are not real. For years I would still do badinkas / slugbugs, but that was always so we could punch each other, you know the one head light.

  20. hm...i see it about once every two days on a clock. but ONLY on clocks.

it's like, i look at the clock at 11:11 without knowing that it's 11:11 and it's like it always seems to be 11:11 when i look at the clock.

i don't know why. it could be just a coincidence.
