It would require an extended period of time (several generations) for that to happen... It would not be noticeable right now...

The theory is logical though; that we have more or less gone against "Survival of the Fittest"

I don't think people could get any dumber. The reason some people are dumber is that they are raised by dumb parents. The essence of the universe is to get to know itself. To better itself. Dumber people are drawn to breed more because it's the universe trying to evolve itself. In a generation or so we will see big changes.

I agree with Rocko!! There is no dumb person I have met that doesn't have dumb parents. Now dumb suggests the inability to learn, also. SO they can pork, but they can't add. Hmm that is probably why they procreate so much, which by survival of the fittest they would be ahead in the game. Unless the aliens come down and organize a survival game show based on logic and facts, not luck of the draw. Then the dummies are SOL!!

Hypothetically yes, many people have kids during or shortly after high school and that makes it harder for them to further their education as they must focus on maintaining a steady income.

I think there is some truth to it.  Intelligent people plan their children and think before breeding.  I have heard stupid people say "You can't plan a child!".  Um, that's why it's called "family planning".  The main people who are intelligent enough to read and use birth control properly are not having children while the people who don't know condoms from deflated balloons are of course breeding like rabbits.

This extends into other areas too.  People who choose not to have a child at all or with a particular partner due to a certain factor (economics, hereditary diseases etc.) are intelligent enough to think and plan obviously and see past their own selfish desires to see what is best for the child.  Fools breed like rabbits no matter whether that situation would be best for the child to be brought into or not. The foolish are not compassionate.  

People have always been stupid but it will take generations before we will finally see the effects.  With the advent of modern birth control, the people who are driven and intelligent enough to obtain and use the birth control properly are of course not breeding (as that's what birth control is for) and the fools breed like cockroaches.  I don't know whether the dumbing down has already started or not because I've read the writing of people who lived long ago and they were just as ignorant if not more so than the stuff I read now.  But with genetic illnesses, it is already showing up.  Do you ever wonder why allergy and asthma rates are skyrocketing and we have so many diabetic  children and people with other inherited issues?  There were no inhalers in 1900...if you were that asthmatic and ill, you died in childhood taking your genes with you without contributing to the gene pool.  But now with the advent of all of these medicines and potions, people with such diseases survive to puberty and breed just like everyone else injecting their genes into the gene pool and the cycle continues.  I am not suggesting that we stop medical advances but this whole who's having kids thing is something to think about.
