I'm planning to go to college(4 years) and later train to become a pilot. Will there be vacancy for me?

Yes , now is the perfect time , this generation of pilots hired in the 80's is going to retire.There will be a shortage of about 10,000 + pilots.

There is already a shortage of pilots, flight attendants, atc, and other aviation related fields. The cause: long hours, low pay, and high stress levels.  

People think that the airline industry is suffering from lack of passengers.  Not true at all.  In fact; passenger loads are higher now than pre-9/11loads.  The reason why is because the airlines don't have enough crews to meet the demands.  They have to cancel flights, and passengers take their business elsewhere.

My good friend use to fly for Great Lakes Airlines.  He is now a real estate appraiser.  He is less stressed out, and makes 3x his previous salary working half the hours he used to.

I think that there with be a spot for you as long as you are good at flying because computer can always fail.

There will always be a need for trained airline pilots. I also have to ambition to become an a pilot and I am currently training for my PPL.

But yes you will defiantly be able to train as a pilot, and they will always be a need for pilots!

Yes, like other said. Pilots will be needed to watch over all the very complicated systems of an Aircraft. Its bad to leave the lives of hundreds of people simply to a computer.

Yes there will be vacancy for pilots, currently there is quite a shortage as well as many analysts predict more job positions opening. The only recent set back is the FAA just pushback the mandatory retirement age, which without a doubt will slow down the hiring process, but currently as it stands there a plenty of spots that will be opening up.
