  1. Answer to the first question: yes, second question: no. ;)

  2. I have seen some photos near the Stadium. However, some photos tend to exaggerate a bit

  3. Almost everyday. Actually it is a mixture of smog and fog/atmospheric haze caused by the weather. You can tell because of the brown tint. If it were only fog it'd have a grey tint.

  4. I live in Guangzhou and I can see it from here.

  5. I thought is was humidity.

If it wasn't for the titles of these 2 photos could you honestly tell if these where smog or fog.

Before Sundays nights storm, its was very humid, very unbearable, after the storm it was much better and a lot of moisture from the air had gone along with the haze.

Unless someone has a pollution report I'm sticking with humidity.

  6. Yes... On some days.  It really depends on the weather, and how bad taht makes the pollution on any given day.  I was there a few weeks ago, and the smog was so bad that you couldn't see much farther than a few blocks very clearly.  But no, I didn't wear a mask while I was there, nor did anyone that I traveled with.  However, the pollution did bother many of us... i.e. runny nose, feeling like allergies.  Just bring some benadryl and you'll be fine!

Here are some sites that will give you more info on pollution in Beijing...
