No. Melo is horrible at defense, while Pierce was able to guard the best basketball player in the NBA today, Kobe Bryant, on the biggest stage in the organization, the Finals. Therefore, even though both Pierce and Melo have the offensive capabilities to flourish on both teams, one struggles on the defensive side.
