  1. I always shop around on moneysupermarket.com.  I've found Elephant.co.uk to be the cheapest by a long shot.

  2. I shop around but not necessarily for the cheapest.

    Cheapest isn't always best.

  3. I would try and find an insurance broker who checks the market each year for you - ask them if that is part of their service.

Although they won't be able to offer qotes for every policy they should consistently find you pretty good deals - buying through a broker is actually cheaper than buying direct as they don't have large advertising bills to pay.

  4. always shop around, went from aa to green insurance co. and saved £250 and they offset all my emmisions for me!!!

  5. I have shopped around a little, but the price on mine has stayed the same, and it's still cheaper than anything else I've found. AND they are great and work with me.

  6. I shop around, however I've only ever once found cheaper insurance than my broker did. When I informed them, the beat the price quoted to me by the competition. It's absolutely worth checking out a few places.

  7. For car insurance the quick way to get a very good quote is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make certain that you compare similar policies with the same deductibles, car model, location, etc so that all options are an accurate comparison.

What I usually recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have lots of insurers and can give multiple quotes on auto insurance polices.

  8. I always shop around for the best deal.

Used to be with Direct Line but changed upon renewal even though we have about 4 other policies with them because they were about £100 dearer than my new insurer and weren't very interested when I told them that.

  9. Always shop around, but us folk in Northern Ireland always get shafted when it comes to car insurance - £300 on the mainland, £1000 here. I mean, there has been a ceasefire for a few years now, please show it in the premiums!!!! Grrr - rant over :)

  10. I always shop around it can make such a difference.  Money Market  are a good web site for quotes.

  11. Funnily enough, last week I got my renewal notice in from Esure, £460. I went onto one of the online search companies' websites and got some quotes, the cheapest of which was from ......

    Esure. £320!!!

    So YES, do shop around!

  12. You could save more than hundreds. You generally get a notice months before the renewal notice, so you have plenty of time to shop around.  Another way to know if you are getting priced fairly..  Call the insurance company you are currently with, but use a neighbors address, and a different name (first & last), and ask for a quote for the exact same type of insurance you currently have.  Use your same vehicle type, mid-size or whatever, see what they quote you.  if you get a cheaper quote, ask them if they can fax you over the quote or e-mail it to you, then call one more time & get another agent.  Go through the same procedure, make necessary alterations to your story & see if they match up.  I know this may sound tedious, but it is worth it, believe me.  If you are willing to get a second opinion from a doctor or whether you should date a certain person, so the same with your insurance.  Also, cheaper insurance may save you in the short run, but you'll pay for it if you ever have to file a claim in the long run..
