Do you sing songs to your children at night (or other times)? What songs do you like to sing?

I sing both some church, veggie tales songs and songs I remember from childhood...

one of my faves is..I got Tuppence, I've been working on the Railroad, She'll be coming round the Mountain. I found I can sing alright after doing it with my kiddies...:)

I'm a terrible singer, but I sing in the car with my daughter.  Her favourites songs right now are Twinkle, Twinkle... Pop Goes the Weasle... Alice the Camel... Wheels on the Bus.

My son likes the stuff that repeats over and over. Examples: "There was a farmer who had a dog, and Bingo was his name o.............." and/ or "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed one fell off............."

He likes the songs that have lots of hand motions as well like "If your'e happy and you know it clap your hands............."

As long as we're in bed at a decent time, we'll read a book and/or sing songs. We sing allot of traditional songs like:

Mary had a little lamb

Firetruck song

Wheels on the bus

If you're happy and ya know it

You are my sunshine

when my son would wake up in the middle of the night i use to sing "u are my sunshine" and now anytime he is cranky i hum it to him...the only other song i know that he likes is do ur ears hang low

I still sing my 6 year old to sleep on most nights. She still loves the babyish songs. Itsy Bitsy Spider I turned into a rock song. You are my sunshine- sang super slow puts her to bed. Hush Little Baby, I make up different endings each time. Twinkle Twinkle little star. Mary had a little lamb I changed to (Daughters name) had a little cat.

I sing Camp Rocks "This is Real This is Me."

BTW I sound awful but she doesn't care.

My youngest is 6, and I still sing silly songs to him  I sang to all of my children, mostly songs that I made up especially for them.  My daughter loved, "bicycle built for two", but I would sing her name in the song instead of "Daisy" .   there was also much more then two people on that bike!  : )

I have to laugh now when they sing along, or make up their own silly songs.!

When my two were infants I would hum (can't sing) to them while rocking them.  Amazing Grace, Jesus loves me, Silent Night. And also when they were sick I did the same.

As toddlers, all the normal stuff.  ABC's, Winnie the Poo, Row Row Row your Boat, Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Love the little Children, All kinds of Disney songs, and of course when mine were small there was Barney.  The "clean up" song was used allot : )

And back then the "Wee Sing" videos were popular. Wee Sing in Sillyville, Wee Sing Together etc.  My kids loved those, so we sung songs from those allot.

Sometimes I'll sing to my 4 and 6 year old at night. I sang to all my girls when they were younger. I remember singing Raffi to my 12 year old twins :)

My kids are grown now, but when they were little I used to sing to them and with them.  

We had a Sesame Street Silly Songs video and their favorite song was "Mary had a bicycle" because it said "Mary had a bicycle, bicycle, bicycle- mary had a bicycle and it was red as fire.  And every time she wanted a ride, wanted a ride, wanted a ride, and every time she wanted a ride (pause) The bicycle had a flat tire! Then they would crack up laughing...

When my son was a baby I learned this song in Spanish called the 10 little puppies. (los Diez Perritos) it has a very nice little rhythm to it, but unfortunately the song is all about these puppies that meet with all kinds of tragedies!! I sang it anyways because it soothed my son- good thing he didn't understand the words!!!! The adults that heard me singing it would always laugh and tell me I was going to give my kid nightmares!! *LOL*
