  1. On my parents birthdays we usually get together as a family and do a lunch or dinner thing. I enjoy them personally but maybe there is a reason why you don't like spending time with your parents and that's something you have to get to the core of. There are many people who don't celebrate their parents birthdays and to them that's normal so really there is no right or wrong answer it's really about what your relationship is like with your parents and what family means to you. No one can tell you you're normal or not normal, you're just you.

  2. Since, we have a big family, we usually have a dinner at home. Everyone is very excited and plans ahead. It's usually not a big party, just nice family dinner. Our parents' birthdays are usually more special than anybody else's.

We (the children) are waiting with anticipation for them and discuss the gift ideas. Sometimes we collect money and buy one really good (expensive) gift; sometimes we just buy a gift from ourselves therefore they have more gifts.

I don't think it's strange that you don't want to spend time with your parents. I really think it depends on how they brought you up. If family ties weren't really important when you were growing up, then no body can really blame you. However, if you're just discussed with your parents because you're being a teenager, then that's not a good situation.
