  1. Are you coming from the US and crossing into Canada?  

    If you fly, you need a passport.  If you drive, you need government ID (driver's license) and proof of citizenship (birth certificate).  


  2. only if you are flying. Any other way of travel just need proof of citizenship and government issued ID.  until June 2009 this is all you need, after that passports will be required.

    p.s. this includes travelling into either country.  For some reason people are under the impression you need a passport to get into the US but not canada.  This is not ture, NEITHER country requires a passport UNLESS you are flying.
