  1. Without emancipation, you have no legal rights as an adult. YOu can't lease an apartment, sign for or make your own decisions. Depends on what your goals here are.


  2. I guess it depends on your age. Probably not if your over 16.  

  3. If you move into a place where there is an adult in the household, then, no--your parents have given you to their care.  In order to secure an apartment for yourself, by yourself, however, or be in any type of situation where you are truly "independent," then emancipation is pretty necessary.
