  1. That is the general rule of thumb to get A's, but some classes will just come naturally easy to you and you will not need to spend all that time on them.  I usually studied about 21 hours a week and that was with 15 credit hours each semester.  Some weeks I studied more, some less, it all depends on the work load that week, how well I understood the material in the book and in class and how many hours of work I had each week.

  2. Everyone needs a different amount of studying to do well in school. Also, every class you have will be different and require a different style of studying. Basically, what you hear is a rough estimation. I suggestion studying a lot in the beginning, at least until you take your first round of midterms. After taking the tests, you can determine how well your studying went and whether you can study less, more or differently. It's better to study too much, then not enough. Goodluck!

  3. you should make up your own study time take as long as you need to understand the material and complete your assignments, plus exam preps. as long as it takes you to do those things you should be ok.

  4. yea.. thats the recommendation from the lecturers.

but from my 2 years at university not much ppl actual does that including me. the only ppl that i know that does that are usually the straight A students or the 4.0 GPA sudents ( at my uni the max. GPA is 4.0) i think i have 3.6 last time i checked. probably lower with the amt of B's I got this semester. i know horrible!

Dont be like scared or anything. You'll adjust with time. If you want to excel bad enough. you'll do the study and at your pace. 30hrs sounds scary but sometimes if its a fun course u'll study more than is recommended and not even realise it but for others you'll even dread going to the class.

  5. Well im a university law student in England. The first few weeks we were told that we needed to do about 30-45 hours of studying a week on top of the 10 hours of lecture time.

The reality is that most students on my course only do 5-10 hours of extra study a week...if that!!!

Its quite a simple tactic really. They know that students will only do a third of the work they are told, so they tell you to do more than is needed.

  6. nope
